GHSA Season Preview: Player Rankings 2022

As the 2020-21 GHSA high school basketball season quickly approaches we will breakdown each classification based on our updated player rankings, highlighting the Top 100.

Class 4A

Extending all the way through our complete 2022 rankings since only three juniors cleared the Top 100, Class 4A places seven players in the Top 153. The classification is wide open and with No. 9 [player_tooltip player_id="948801" first="Kaleb" last="Banks"] being the highest ranked player, Fayette County has to have designs on a deep playoff run. The Spalding transfer was Co-Region Player of the Year and has picked up numerous D-I offers over the summer. Not many people in Metro Atlanta know about No. 21 [player_tooltip player_id="870163" first="Domonik" last="Henderson"] yet, but he’s an elite on-ball defender with an endless motor. For Monroe to be a factor in Region 1 after losing [player_tooltip player_id="869605" first="Marius" last="Ellis"] to Westover, Henderson will have to carry the load on both ends of the floor. Cedar Shoals and Perry both have two players apiece in the rankings. No. 62 [player_tooltip player_id="810390" first="Kashik" last="Brown"] and No. 136 [player_tooltip player_id="1045700" first="Jerdavian" last="Colbert"] are a pair of undersized guards that came up big during Cedar Shoals’ run to the Class 5A State Championship where they lost 57-44 to Dutchtown. Brown had a great summer scoring the ball and will likely see the offense run through him. Perry has physical football players in No. 102 [player_tooltip player_id="1020681" first="Daequan" last="Wright"] and No. 125 [player_tooltip player_id="1050043" first="Curtis" last="Head"]. Wright is a bruising 6-foot-4 wing that crashes the glass and finishes through contact while Head is tough defender. There are concerns about No. 105 [player_tooltip player_id="1045698" first="Malaki" last="Starks"] not playing basketball this year. The five-star football athlete would be an enormous blow for last year’s Class 3A State Runner-up.
