November 27th-29th I attended Ryan Silver’s Elite-100 located at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.

There were around 450 participants from around the country of classes from 2025-2020 looking for exposure.

Every game was filmed by BeTheBeast.

In this article we look at some of the standouts from New Mexico and Arizona:

2021

[player_tooltip player_id="809693" first="Zachariah" last="Morgan"] Pueblo/AZ

-A long post player with skill. He continues to move better and better and is becoming more and more fluid. He is a natural shot blocker and he is a high level rebounder. He uses his height and length to finish consistently around the rim and has a touch to shoot it from the 3pt line.

2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1080835" first="Joel" last="Speckman II"] PHHeonix Prep/AZ

-A strong forward impressed this weekend as he battled vs some of the top bigs in the country. He scored it inside with his brute strength and gives good ball fakes and goes up in traffic and can score it through contact. He has a nice looking shot and his competitiveness came out as he shined in the Top-20 game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076668" first="Sean" last="Johnson"] SF 6’5 Sandia/NM

-A bouncy wing forward can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line and throw it down on the break. He is a sneaky good passer. He is a multiple positional defender and has an impressive frame and build. He does get little lazy at times and has to keep his motor running high but all the tools are there to play at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076670" first="Deuce" last="Benjamin"] PG 6’0 Las Cruces/NM

-A tough lead guard pushes the pace well and can defend. He is extremely quick on the ball defensively and he has some jets to get into the lane with his burst. He can pull-up from mid and has a streaky 3pt shot currently. A nice West Coast sleeper from NM.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076677" first="Jose" last="Murillo"] C 6’8 Highland/NM

-A defensive post player who moves fairly well. He is freaky long and grabs out of area rebounds with his length and athleticism. He showed off his fluidity on the break as he handled it the full length of the court and flushed it down. He can post up and score with a few moves. He has pretty good hands that are very big and runs well. He shows high upside.

2023

[player_tooltip player_id="814520" first="Isaac" last="Hymes"] Millennium/AZ (Pictured)

A long forward broke out this weekend. He takes long strides to get to the rim and has real range to the 3pt line. He moves his feet well in space and his length bothers his opponents in the passing lanes. He blocks shots and rebounds in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076698" first="Donovan" last="Black"] PF 6’6 Onate/NM

-Another long forward is a defensive stud. He shows great activity on the glass and will attempt to block anything near him. Like Johnson, he needs to keep his motor high but he runs the floor well with real length and good size.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076702" first="Shane" last="Douma-Sanchez"] PG 6’0 Del Norte/NM

-A high IQ PG has a great feel for the game. He is a little undersized but he has the skill from mid to the 3pt line and his mind works. He is very competitive and will lead a team in college one day at some level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076706" first="Ely" last="Lovato"] SG 6’1 Sandia/NM

-A natural scorer from all levels. He is smart and skilled from both mid to the 3 and he is another that knows the game. He has decent size and if he can push out a couple more inches, he will be more coveted for the next level. He is also a sneaky good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1090305" first="Armari" last="Carraway"] Pueblo/AZ

-A fast scoring lead guard can score it from all 3 levels. He has incredible open court speed and has a nice pull-up from mid-range and can hit the 3 as well. He gets to the rim with a nice burst and he is tough on the ball using his speed and lateral quickness. He transferred in from Sacramento and should make noise immediately in AZ.

2024

Amari Brown CG 6’2 Cibola/NM

-A lefty who has an elite layup package for his age and speed to get into the lane. He can hit the floater, hit from mid-range and he can pull-up. He has a great pace to his game and it wouldn’t shock me to see him be a 4-year starter on varsity.
