Bruce’s Best: Unique Skill Sets

<p>I spend more time than the average human studying stats. Through that study, I’ve come across some remarkable individual performances, as well as some that defy logic. In this article, we take a look at some of the most unique skill sets in the state. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="859646" first="Tavionte" last="Jackson"] <em>6’1 PG Las Vegas 2022 (#4PHN 2022)</em> </p> <p>Unique Skill: Rebounding </p> <p>Scouts Breakdown: Part of his rebounding prowess is physical, the other part is heart. Jackson has ridiculously long arms which allows him to play larger than his 6-foot frame. He also is a hard-nosed competitor who is not afraid to battle amongst the trees. Jackson’s quick second jump and relentless pursuit of the basketball make him one of the best offensive rebounders in the state. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="990584" first="David" last="Thurman"] <em>6’3 SF Green Valley Christian 2022</em></p> <p>Unique Skill: Passing</p> <p>Scouts Breakdown: Thurman is one of the most unique players in the state. Although he plays for a small school, it’s fun watching the 6’3 forward distribute the ball to his teammates. He averaged nearly 5 assists per game as a sophomore, but what made it so amazing was his consistency. Thurman had 16 games with at least 4 assists per game last year. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="985630" first="Nakalya" last="Fabello"] <em>6’0 PG Valley 2023 </em></p> <p>Unique Skill: Free Throw Shooting</p> <p>Scouts Breakdown: It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Fabello is one of the best free-throw shooters. A lot of free-throw shooting comes down to toughness and the PG is one of the most mentally tough players in the state. Still, though, I was absolutely shocked to find out that he shot nearly 87% from the line. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="927152" first="Jason" last="Condron"] <em>6’0 SG Palo Verde 2021 (feature image) </em></p> <p>Unique Skill: 3 Point Shooting </p> <p>Scouts Breakdown: It’s not so much the fact that Condron is a 3 point shooter, it’s the accuracy that he shot the ball with. Condron made nearly half of his 3 point attempts last season. Now consider the fact that he got up almost 80 for the season. He’s a lethal shooter that had the tendency to go off from behind the arc, evident from 10 multiple 3 point games last season. </p> <p>Alec Cerfoglio<em> 5’7 PG Spanish Springs 2021 </em></p> <p>Unique Skill: Charge Taking</p> <p>Scouts Breakdown: While charges are kind of an unofficial stat. The fact that a 5’7 PG took 15 of them is surprising enough.
