Black Panther Fall League Playoff Standouts

Today there was playoff action for the Baltimore Black Panther Fall League and I was in attendance for the first five games. Here are the players that stood out among the rest.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049493" first="Jamai" last="Felt"] | 6’8 | Team Beyond

Felt came out strong in the second half for his team and led the way with 12 points, scoring timely buckets that helped his team pull away for the win. The 6-foot-8 southpaw threw down a two-handed poster dunk that sparked the late surge. Felt also was key in blocking and distorting shots around the rim defensively.

Felt’s versatility was on full display in their second game against Panthers (St. Frances) as he started looking for his shot from three. Matched up against Maryland bound [player_tooltip player_id="712747" first="Julian" last="Reese"], Felt showed why he’s a legitimate Division I prospect who is just scratching the surface of his potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="904628" first="Deon" last="Perry"] | 5’8 | Cougars ‘22

It’s become routine for Perry to have his way with any opposition in this fall league. The 5-foot-8 lead guard, who scored a game-high 22 points, is extremely shifty and puts pressure on the defense by getting to the basket with regularity and seeking contact on his way to draw fouls. What makes Perry difficult to guard is the fact that he can do damage from deep as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="837931" first="Kevin" last="Kalu"] | 6’9 | Cougars ‘21

Kalu knows how to assert his dominance inside when facing smaller teams. Although rebounds weren’t being tallied, I’m confident he had close to 20 total boards to go along with 14 points. Kalu finished with soft touch inside on turnarounds but also threw down a dunk despite being fouled. He runs the floor with intent and makes his impact felt in many ways.

[player_tooltip player_id="904622" first="Tobi" last="Nnadozie"] | 6’2 | Cougars ‘22

Nnadozie’s impact is evident with this team and we saw that after they fell behind early due to him showing up late. Once he came into the game and warmed up, there was no looking back. He provided another scoring option for the Cougars off the bounce and did a nice job finishing with craft even while being contested around the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="777071" first="Christian" last="Winborne"] | 6’2 | Grey Dogs ‘21

Winborne was rolling on all cylinders for the Grey Dogs in their first game and making his presence known from three off the catch. He had multiple above the rim finishes in transition and was responsible for a handful of steals. The Grey Dogs only had five players and had to play the last seven with four after [player_tooltip player_id="902036" first="Malik" last="Missouri"]’s tooth was knocked out.

In their second game of the day, Winborne went up against the Cougars and once again made the game look easy. His mid-range game off the dribble is what makes him almost unstoppable from all three levels. He continued hitting his mark from deep off the catch as well on his way to 29 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="957025" first="Jahnathan" last="Lamothe"] | 6’3 | Panthers ‘23

Lamothe hit three of his four made three’s in the first 10 minutes of play and helped set the tone for the Panthers. The 6-foot-3 guard finished with a game-high 23 points and did a nice job of getting out early in transition, making himself available for lay-ups.
