2023 rankings – power forwards

<p>The top player in the first round of state rankings is [player_tooltip player_id="1080159" first="Will" last="Anciaux"] from Wichita. He was an important contributor for Kapaun as a freshman, averaging about 10 points and six rebounds. His 6-foot-6 frame and athleticism serves him well on the football field, and he brings toughness to the court. Despite his youth, he was lights out from the line and was dynamite in the lane. He earned honorable mention all-City League as a freshman. Kapaun is loaded with rising stars, so Anciaux won’t have all the pressure on himself.</p> <p>Here are the five other power forwards in the first edition of the Kansas 2023 Player Rankings:</p> <p>5 [player_tooltip player_id="1080164" first="Tyler" last="Little"], Galena:</p> <p>The 6-foot-5 Little is a versatile talent who was already a prime-time performer as a freshman. He averaged 10 rebounds per game, and was a scorer as well for Galena. He works hard a both ends and finds lots of opportunities on put backs.</p> <p>19 [player_tooltip player_id="1080180" first="Jack" last="Voth"], Buhler:</p> <p>The big man is tough on the defensive end and is just as likely to draw a charge as he is to block a shot in the lane. The 6-foot-4 Voth has the skills to take the ball full court on the drive, as well as to catch and score on the block or on the move through the lane.</p> <p>22 [player_tooltip player_id="1080183" first="Samuel" last="Same’"], Derby:</p> <p>Same’ is respected by coaches in the Wichita area who know the 6-foot-4 athlete’s talents. He played up a grade during the summer for the 16U Mentality by Michael Watson club. Watch for him to make himself known on the talented Derby roster.</p> <p>36 [player_tooltip player_id="1080197" first="Kaden" last="McDaniel"], Augusta:</p> <p>The 6-foot-4 stud is showing off his athleticism by making plays all over the field as a receiver and defensive back for Augusta. He made equally big plays for the state-qualifier on the court last year. He will build upon that experience come winter time for the Orioles.</p> <p>44 [player_tooltip player_id="1080204" first="Aiden" last="Sullivan"], Olathe Northwest:</p> <p>Sullivan is a big-bodied athlete who will try to show on the high school level the talents he’s demonstrated to club coaches.</p>
