Underrated Available Seniors: Central/Western VA

<p>We take a look at some of the top available guys in the central and western part of VA that college coaches should get to know. While these guys don’t play in the biggest parts of the state, they’re guys who have been consistent throughout their careers and will be steals at the next level for whoever gives them a chance.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="798723" first="Jamonte" last="Smith"] | 6’0” CG | Patrick Henry - Roanoke</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/Smith-Jamonte-RC.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1060586" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/Smith-Jamonte-RC-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Smith has been one of the top scorers in the Roanoke area over the past few years and it’s easy to see why as he has a lot in his bag. He’s a quick twitch athlete with a quick first step and good wiggle off the bounce, he can create space and make shots off the bounce from all over the floor and he has a good feel to the game as well. His skillset is very impressive and he can fill it up in bunches.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="798739" first="Cam" last="Cormany"] | 6’0” G | Radford</strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/Cormany-Cam.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1060585" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/Cormany-Cam-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Cormany is one of the top shooters in the state and he was recognized as a First Team All State performer last year. The son of head coach Rick Cormany, this kid is an incredible worker and high IQ kid who can play on or off the basketball, he shoots the ball with great confidence and efficiency from deep and he makes winning plays on both ends. He may not look the part but this kid can get it done on both ends and will go at whoever is in front of him. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="798742" first="Donovan" last="St. Juste"] | 6’4” WG | William Fleming </strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/St.-Juste-Donavan.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1069949" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/St.-Juste-Donavan-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>St. Juste is a guy who division two and low major schools should be on because long term he has a ton of potential. He looks the part to a t with a great frame, long arms and he’s a big time athlete who plays way above the rim on both ends. He is a guy who is just scratching the surface with how good he can be but he has great athleticism, can shoot the three ball and is a guy who could be an impact player on both ends of the floor with development and if he plays with a motor.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="957906" first="Ethan" last="English"] | 6’2” WG | Salem (Roanoke) </strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/English-Ethan.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1069954" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/English-Ethan-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>English is another athletic guard out of the Roanoke area who’s strong, explosive and is just scratching the surface with his talent. He’s a guy who plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor, has the potential to be a very good defender on the perimeter and he thrives in transition when he can get downhill and use his strength to finish in traffic. He produces in a number of ways and still has tons of room to improve.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="798707" first="Demetri" last="Gardner"] | 6’6” F | John Handley </strong></p> <p>Gardner is a very intriguing prospect because of his blend of size and skill set, and his versatility to play on both ends of the floor. He’s a guy who can play inside-out with his strength in the post and he can handle and shoot on the perimeter as well. He scores it from multiple levels, he rebounds at a high rate and he can make an impact in so many different ways.</p> <p><strong>Annouar Mellouk | 6’8” F | Fork Union </strong></p> <p>Mellouk may be the best kept secret in the 2021 class, as the native of the Netherlands has so much potential moving forward. He’s a raw 6’8” forward that can play on the perimeter with his ability to shoot the basketball from deep, he can guard multiple positions and he’s extremely athletic and long and can make plays above the rim as far as blocking shots and finishing above the rim. He’s a guy who no one really knows about but he has tons of potential moving forward.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="798737" first="Jaylen" last="Leftwich"] | 6’3” CG | Liberty Christian Academy</strong></p> <p>Leftwich is another intriguing prospect because of his size and skill set at the guard position. He’s big and strong and a good athlete that can blow by defenders and get downhill, he’s a solid playmaker that makes others better and he can see over guys to deliver the passes. He’s a skilled guy who can make shots from multiple levels and can finish in the lane as well.</p>
