Height: 6’1" High School: Marion 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 10.6/4/3 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 45/32/73

The multi-sport standout for Marion had a terrific junior season on the hardwood. He is a well-rounded player who can put it on the floor a bit, and flashed some playmaking a year ago. He will assume more responsibility for the Indians this winter and I anticipate he’ll be tasked with more shot creation duties.

[player_tooltip player_id="965116" first="Payton" last="Weehler"]

Height: 6’2" High School: Mount Ayr 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 11.4/2.3/2.9 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 44/41/70

Payton was the leading assist man for his squad a year ago, and second in total points. Payton, along with sophomore Jaixen Frost, will be expected to fill in the gap left by graduation, which forced out three of the Raiders’ top five scorers. The 41% three-point percentage is a great mark, and even more impressive considering his 102 attempts led the team. He is an efficient player who is ready to lead this team.

[player_tooltip player_id="964914" first="Boone" last="Bain"]

Height: 6’3" High School: Southeast Polk 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 9.8/3.7/1.5 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 42/43/75

Southeast Polk will have one of the better senior classes around the state this season. The Rams were very efficient offensively a year ago, shooting 46% from the field and nearly 39% from three, and Boone was no exception. He provided great energy and his length allowed him to fight for rebounds and traffic and take away lanes and gaps in the defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="964936" first="Brent" last="Scott"]

Height: 6’1" High School: Spirit Lake 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 9.4/3.3/3.3 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 47/40/70

Brent has a smooth stroke from distance and excelled as a role player in limited action as junior (15 games played). He was a wonderful complement to leading scorers [player_tooltip player_id="962615" first="Vance" last="Katzfey"] (22’) and [player_tooltip player_id="796188" first="Creighton" last="Moricsh"] (21’). He would cut at the right times in the right places, and is able to take advantage of a lopsided defense when the offensive initiators suck them in.

[player_tooltip player_id="964939" first="Hayden" last="Hutcheson"]

Height: 6’5" High School: Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: N/A FG%/3FG%/FT%: N/A

I could find no statistics to attest to Hayden’s efficiency or volume, but my eyes tell me was a very valuable player. His size makes a huge impact, both height and strength. He will outmuscle most players he faces at this level but he is gentle and sneaky about doing it. He will give defenders what look like slight bumps but he coordinates his body well enough through the motion that he creates space while staying controlled and not fouling. He has excellent hands around the basket. There are a lot of little things in his game to appreciate, like him keeping the ball above his head on rebounds and putbacks. He spaces the floor very well.

[player_tooltip player_id="964937" first="Brayden" last="Sobaski"]

Height: 6’3" High School: Pekin 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 9/4.3/1.8 FG%/3FG%/FT%: 48/38/70

Brayden defended well within Pekin’s team defense and showed some basketball intuition. He nearly shot 50% from the field and 40% from three as a role player as a junior. Him and [player_tooltip player_id="964895" first="Brady" last="Millikin"] will be a great senior duo.
