My job will not be complete until I see college coaches and recruiters flowing back into the City of Detroit and the Metro Detroit area as a whole to see the amazing talent that is being displayed day in and day out. Let’s take a look at 5 guards that will make any college program out there better.

[player_tooltip player_id="814635" first="Davin" last="Walker"] (2021, PG, Detroit King)

Colleges have to put this dynamic point guard on their radar. His on ball defense is outstanding. He plays defense the entire court. He has a nice mid-range game. He has a nice percentage from the 3 point arc. He is unselfish and a team player. He doesn’t get rattled and never complains.

Derek Bolton lll (2022, CG, Detroit Cristo Rey)

What I like about this young man is his desire to become an all-around player. His work ethic is impeccable. He has always had the ability to get to the rim and finish. He is now able to play on the perimeter and create his own shot. College coaches and recruiters take notice.

Phil Ragan lll (2022, PG, UD Jesuit)

A point guard is expected to be able to handle the ball, run the offense, be a scoring threat, make assists, and play good defense. This young man can do all of the above and do them well. He is a good high school point guard and he will be a good college point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="1051078" first="Ralph" last="Bland"] (2021, CG, DEPSA)

To all college coaches and recruiters [player_tooltip player_id="1051078" first="Ralph" last="Bland"] is no longer a sleeper and he needs to be recruited. He is a physical player with a nose for the rim. His ability to finish in traffic is college ready. I love the way he gets out on the break. Because of his athletic ability and drive becoming an outstanding defensive player is on the horizon.

[player_tooltip player_id="811114" first="Jaylen" last="Flaniken"] (2021, CG, DEPSA)

Flaniken is going to be a valuable asset to the fortunate college he chooses to go to. This is a well-rounded young man who understands it is about God, family education, and then basketball. On the court he is multi-talented who is going to play hard all the time. He can rebound, finish at the rim, shoot the midrange, and shoot the three.
