<p>The Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250 Expo put a lot of players and their skill sets on display. We can’t forget about the defensive end. Any coaches that are searching for defenders, now and in the future, may want to take a look at this article.</p>
<p>* This is derived straight from my notes from the event. There are plenty of outstanding defenders in the field, but these are a few that drew my eye.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055898" first="Alec" last="Albrecht"] (2021, 6-0, Armada)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/3_Alec-AlberchtPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061801" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/3_Alec-AlberchtPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Albrecht did more than shoot that Sunday night. He was a tough perimeter defender that put his body into his man. Albrecht was constantly talking and communicating with his teammates on the defensive end as well.</p>
<p><strong>Delricco Gillespie (2022, 6-7, Benton Harbor)</strong></p>
<p>Gillespie has the potential to be a game changer on the defensive end. His versatility and strength give him a leg up against the competition.</p>
<p><strong>Ammarion Givens (2022, 6-0, Heritage)</strong></p>
<p>Givens was tough to beat on D at the Top 250. He had very quick feet and hardly ever allowed the offensive player to gain a step and drive the lane. Givens stayed on his toes and hunted steals.</p>
<p><strong>Christian Humphrey-Rembert (2024, 6-7, East Kentwood)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/143_Christian-Humphrey-RembertPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061916" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/143_Christian-Humphrey-RembertPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Humphrey-Rembert was a very valuable defender. He sped back on D and played outstanding transition defense. Humphrey-Rembert used his length to defend the break.</p>
<p><strong>Michael Justice (2021, 6-7, Troy Athens)</strong></p>
<p>Justice had a strong night at the Top 250 defending the mid range and post. He’s a pretty strong kid that’s willing to battle it out with any opponent.</p>
<p><strong>Wieng Maywal (2021, 6-4, East Kentwood)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/111_Wieing-MaywalPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061889" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/111_Wieing-MaywalPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Maywal made a statement on the defensive end. He actively used his long arms on D to challenge passes and alter shots. Maywal could create a niche with his defense.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="814573" first="Aidan" last="Rubio"] (2021, 6-6, Goodrich)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/127_Aidan-RubioPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061903" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/127_Aidan-RubioPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Rubio might be remembered by most for his powerful dunks at the event, but his defense got my attention. He can defend anywhere on the floor and engulfs his opponent.. In the first 10 minutes of the day, Rubio had 3 blocks. </p>
<p><strong>Terrell Sykes (2023, 6-4, Madison Heights Lamphere)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/108_Terrill-SykesPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061886" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/108_Terrill-SykesPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Sykes was an athletic defender that could get into passing lanes. He could create a little bit of chaos for the offense. Sykes liked to communicate with his teammates on the defensive end.</p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="811134" first="Bryan" last="Tyler"] (2021, 5-10, Westland John Glenn)</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/179_Bryan-TylerPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061944" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/179_Bryan-TylerPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Tyler played a bit off the ball and attacked it when it moved into the passing lanes. He took advantage of soft passes, going after them and getting deflections and steals.</p>
