Long Island has some nice talent. We are finally getting to see it. Here are some players who we have seen in the past week that colleges should have on their radar. Showed he can make the right play for himself or a teammate. Shot 53% from the floor last year and 32% from three. When you play him close he can go by you and get to the rim. Needs to gain a little more strength. Mike Mendez 6”5. 2023 Upper Room Christian HS Smooth jump shot. A young player with a lot of potential and tremendous upside. Should be a player to watch as he gains more playing experience. Handles the ball well for his size. Needs to add some strength and be more aggressive . Alex Tabada 6”2. 2021. North Babylon HS A player who attacks the basket. Finishes through contact. Can score around the rim. Good rebounder. Excellent defender. Would like to see him be a little more aggressive. Brian Blanchet 5”10. 2022. North Babylon HS A really good shooter from three. Shot 40% from the arc last season. Really good decision maker and possesses a nice handle. Likes to take the big shot. A very confidant player. Has been working on his defense. Bernard Delali. 6”8. 2021. Upper Room Christian HS An offer from Cleveland State already in his pocket. From Ghana to Wisconsin now on Long Island. He is a physically imposing looking player. Takes up space. Shoots it well for a big man. Strong rebounder. Working on his footwork and post moves. Josh Delice. 6”4. 2021. North Babylon HS Really strong rebounder. Very athletic player. Runs the floor well. Excellent post defender and rim protector. Needs to finish a little better around the rim.
