The Southeast Basketball Academy held a free 40-man nonprofit showcase for rising seniors. A faith-based message surrounding hope in troubling times was the keynote. Four teams played in a tournament style setting that crowned one winner after two games. Here are some quick notes for each player at camp, broken down by team.

Mavericks

6-0 PG [player_tooltip player_id="869607" first="Jason" last="Edwards"] – Parkview
Dynamic scorer poured in a camp-high 25 points and 5 assists in his first game. Has terrific balance when attacking the basket. Doesn’t get knocked off course and can finish through contact. Scores at all three levels. Crafty finisher doesn’t get his shot blocked when he gets all the way inside. Has improved his ability to make plays for others. Non-stop vocal leader.

6-5 F [player_tooltip player_id="869631" first="Navaughn" last="Maise"] – Discovery
Inside-out threat. Smart player. Screened away from the ball to open up scoring opportunities for teammates. Tough-nosed rebounder that plays bigger than his size. Active hands defensively. Good communicator.

5-10 PG DaQuan Hawkins – Central Gwinnett
Helped organize the offense. Didn’t take any bad shots. Looked to get others involved first before scoring himself. Did a nice job of getting into the paint and drawing attention. Rebounded well for position.

6-2 G [player_tooltip player_id="869657" first="Andrew" last="Peacock"] – Cherokee Christian
Could beat his man off the dribble with a deceptively quick first step. Converted And-1 opportunities at the rim. Did a little bit of everything to help his team win. Chips in on the glass and is willing to make the extra pass on offense.

6-8 C [player_tooltip player_id="806775" first="Kai" last="Simmons"] – St. Francis
Rebounded the ball well and held his own defensively, able to block a handful of shots. Moves well for his size. A dirty-work type player that can score on dump offs and help clog the lane on defense. Still has room to grow offensively.

6-6 F [player_tooltip player_id="1004879" first="DeCameron" last="Porter"] – LaFayette
Picked up an offer from Maryville. Gangly combo-forward is a great leaper. Tremendously long arms help him rebound and protect the rim. Has a severe hitch in his shot but can still knockdown open threes. Energy player is a consistent double-double threat.

6-3 SG [player_tooltip player_id="869629" first="Kristian" last="Ford"] – East Paulding
Big guard scores the ball at a high level. Dangerous three-point shooter has grown by leaps and bounds. Smooth attack when getting downhill. Can consistently hit from the mid-range. Quietly fills the stat sheet with rebounds and assists. Earned an offer from Maryville.

6-3 G [player_tooltip player_id="1020672" first="Nick" last="Hein"] – Kennesaw Mountain
Physically strong guard that can bother opponents with his strength. Presses up on ballhandlers and can turn them and make them uncomfortable. Makes smart cuts without the ball. Tough when he gets into the paint. Has shown the ability to be able to finish and create for others.
