This weekend, AZ Compass Prep in Chandler Arizona is playing host to the Pangos Premiere 80 Showcase. Some of the top talent from across the country will be there including many from Southern California.

Here’s a quick look at a few SoCal players to watch out for this Sunday Nov. 1

1. [player_tooltip player_id="994924" first="Xavier" last="Edmonds"] - Bishop Montgomery 2023

Edmonds is a big man with a nice combination of size and skill. He can establish post position and he takes his time when making a move. He doesn’t rush with his back to the basket and he can finish at the rim. He can get his shot off against most defenders, and especially take advantage of smaller defenders in the paint. Strong on the glass.

2. Will Smith III - Bishop Montgomery 2023

Solid in transition; he’s athletic and can get out on the fast break. Can finish himself, but looks for his teammates who are running with him; will make right play in transition. Strong around the rim and in the paint; will finish over smaller defenders. Fights hard on the glass for offensive rebounds. Decent defensive player who can stick with wings going to the rim and contest shots well.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="972436" first="Jermaine" last="Rogers II"] - Ayala 2022

Rogers had a solid sophomore year and was named to the Palomares All-League second team. When watching film, Rogers was very impressive on the defensive end of the court. He has quick hands and contests shots well. He stays on his feet and keeps up with the player he’s guarding. Has the tools to be a lockdown defender. Offensively, he can shoot the ball and he gets out in transition as a finisher.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="994919" first="Justin" last="Daniels"] - Mater Dei 2023

Daniels is a very intriguing prospect. He didn’t play much at all as a freshman last season with the Monarchs, but should have an increased role in his second year of high school basketball. He’s shown flashes of his potential at various grassroots events over the past year. He is a wing player who stands at 6-4 already with room to grow. He’s shown the ability to be a scorer at all three levels.
