It’s never too early for too-early-season. With fall sports and school underway, it’s only a matter of time before the winter sports season is upon us.

With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the teams that should be improved in 2020-21:

Northern Cass

The Jaguars were competitive in Region 1 last year, winning 14 games. They’ve got the talent to make noise in what should be a loaded region this winter though, as they’ve got one of the best guards in the state in [player_tooltip player_id="750160" first="Jase" last="Crockett"]. He’s not alone though, as [player_tooltip player_id="1046335" first="Kolby" last="Vander Wal"] is one of the best two-way wings in the region. And there’s young talent that should continue rising with guys like Leighton Strommen and Jonathan Rietschel.

Linton/HMB

The Lions were middling in Region 3 last year, winning 13 games and reaching the region tournament. Don’t be surprised if they are closer to contention this winter as [player_tooltip player_id="531491" first="Lucas" last="Schumacher"] is arguably the best individual player in the area. He’s able to control the game as much as any individual player in Class B. [player_tooltip player_id="998915" first="Carter" last="Renz"] is one of the top swingmen in the region and there’s a lot of experience coming back.

Velva

The Aggies were competitive in Region 6 last year and there’s cause for a lot of optimism as the whole team is set to return. It starts inside for Velva, as [player_tooltip player_id="1046362" first="Kaden" last="Chadwick"] and Adam Schepp form a punishing duo in the paint. Jersey Selzler is an excellent floor general who is solid on both ends of the floor. Hunter Suckut is a solid complementary guard who provides shooting and Gage Florence is an experienced guard who does a little bit of everything. It’s a complete team that could be among the favorites in the region.
