<p>It’s been an eventful fall with various events occurring all over the region. Now is a good time to reflect upon what we’ve learned during this busy time. Here is a closer look at some of the top team defenders we’ve seen during the last several weeks. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="798688" first="Jaylani" last="Darden"] ’21</h5>
<p>Darden was seen wreaking havoc throughout Session 1 of the Seen Circuit. The long-limbed lefty has hit a growth spurt and was a menace in the passing lanes who was adept at utilizing his length to be disruptive.</p>
<h5>Marquis Dunklin ’22</h5>
<p>Dunklin is a sneaky athletic guard who has been a standout with Family Over Fame during the St. James Fall League. He’s not afraid to stick his nose in and take a charge but can also get up and pin a shot off the glass as well. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="798715" first="Tyrell" last="Harris"] ’21</h5>
<p>Harris is a key figure in the defensive scheme of his team because of his versatility. He’s a taller forward who can guard multiple positions in the frontcourt and his positioning off the ball is consistently good. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="902098" first="Greg" last="Jones"] ’23</h5>
<p>It’s been a joy to watch Jones blossom into a leader for Team VA during the St. James Fall League. He’s a vocal leader who backs it up with his actions. An example of this would be the fact that Jones has taken multiple charges in more than one game.</p>
<h5>Ayrion Journiette ’22</h5>
<p>Journiette is a dark horse from the 540 who impressed during Session 1 of the Seen Circuit. His effort on the defensive end was commendable and translated into positive outcomes for his squad.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="798711" first="Chris" last="Kuzemka"] ’21</h5>
<p>One of the biggest breakout performers of the fall, Kuzemka’s overall game is highlighted by his willingness to compete on every play especially on defense. He took numerous charges during his team’s hard-fought win during session 1 of the PYBL Fall Showcase. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="798698" first="Quentin" last="Livingston"] ’21</h5>
<p>Livingston is a fiery competitor who brings palpable energy to the floor every time he plays. He tends to energize his team by coming up with deflections that lead to run-outs or taking charges.</p>
<h5>Trenton Picott ’21</h5>
<p>Picott is a wonderful eraser for the backline of a defense. His timing is intuitive and you won't get him to bite on any pump fakes. </p>
<h5>Greg Williams ’22</h5>
<p>Williams has fit in nicely into a dangerous Virginia Academy starting lineup. His activity level at the top of their press has been very good and he's showcased some adaptability.</p>
