The Border League took place this weekend. The event which took place throughout the Gilbert area featured over 80 teams. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top Local performers from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="680223" first="Luke" last="Turner"] 6’7 SF Rancho Christian 2021 (#27PHSC 2021) - It’s easy to fall in love with the offensive versatility of the 6’7 wing, however, what impressed me most about Turner was his defense. He easily hedged and switched ball screens and did a terrific job of staying in front of ballhandlers. Offensively he displayed a quick and accurate trigger from 3, and the ability to get to the rim and finish. UTEP, Pepperdine, and LMU are currently the leaders for his services.

[player_tooltip player_id="951263" first="Jake" last="Blazona"] 5’11 PG Santa Margarita 2021 (#99PHSC 2021) - Blazona didn’t wow me with his physical gifts, but his overall floor leadership was impressive. Not only did he make the right play time and time again but he also displayed a calm and confident demeanor keeping his team poised during tense moments of games. He displayed a solid handle, and the ability to execute the offense against intense defensive pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id="775755" first="Donjae" last="Lindsey"] 6’2 Weston Ranch 2021 (#7PHNC 2021) (featured image) - Lindsey was fearless all weekend, displaying quickness and athleticism to go along with timely shot-making. The 6’2 guard was the best player on the floor in the championship game, leading Weston Ranch to the California Bracket Title.

[player_tooltip player_id="970253" first="Vincent" last="Berlucchi"] 6’6 SF Santa Fe Christian (#60PHSC 2021) - Burluchhi wasn’t consistently dominant, however, he showed enough flashes of his skillset. The 6’6 wing has a nice in-between game and displayed the ability to put the ball on the floor and create for himself as well as burry jumpers in catch and shoot situations.

[player_tooltip player_id="987153" first="Chris" last="Dockery"] 6’5 SF Middlebrooks 2021 - I was ecstatic to see Dockery play live for the first time since his leg injury last year. He looked good. Dockery displayed a smooth scoring ability along with terrific R&J athleticism. The Nevada transfer is currently one of the fastest rising prospects on the West Coast.

[player_tooltip player_id="766848" first="Takai" last="Emerson-Hardy"] 6’6 PF 2022 (#5PHSC 2022) - TEH grew on me throughout the weekend. I’m not quite sure what position he is, however, I am certain that he possesses the valuable skill of rebounding. Hardy showed the ability to dominate the glass grabbing both in and out of area rebounds. Occasionally he would lead the break after collecting a rebound, but more often than not he was on the finishing end of transition buckets.
