The PrepHoops Top 250 Expo took place in Gilbert, Arizona this weekend. The event featured over 100 prospects all looking for an opportunity to make a name for themselves. It also featured several quality student-athletes. In this article, PH takes a look at the top high academic performers from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="927162" first="Riley" last="DeWit"] 6’6 PF Bonanza 2021 (#84PHN 2021) - DeWit had a solid performance at the Expo. Showed range out to about 18 and a willingness to rim run and sprint the floor. His willingness in the classroom has never been questioned as the 6’6 big is a 3.7 student.

[player_tooltip player_id="941624" first="Daryian" last="Matthews"] 6’5 PF Dysart 2021 (#103PHA 2021) - Is there any box [player_tooltip player_id="941624" first="Daryian" last="Matthews"] doesn’t check? He has great hands, terrific feet and rebounds any and everything in sight. If only he was a decent student, oh yea, he just carries a 4.7 GPA and is one of the highest recruited high academic players on the west coast.

Carter Lankford 6’2 SG Rancho Bernardo 2022 - Love Lankford’s energy, effort, and competitiveness. Much like Matthews, he impacts games without having to score. He does a ton of scoring in the classroom however. The 6’2 guard is a 4.4 student with a bright future ahead of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1044827" first="Anthony" last="Pittman"] 6’0 PG Bishop Gorman 2022 (#50PHN 2022) - Pittman was one of the surprise players at the camp. A JV player for the Nevada powerhouse Bishop Gorman program, he proved why the cupboard is never bare for the Gaels. He displayed good quickness and was a hawk on the defensive end. In addition to his on-court talent, Pittman also gets it done in the classroom rocking a 3.5 GPA.

[player_tooltip player_id="917027" first="Garrett" last="Rogers"] 5’11 PG Colombine 2021 (#84PHC 2021) (featured image) - Loved what Rogers did at the Expo. He was one of the better shooters and will be featured in my top shooters articles. In addition to his shooting, he showed a good feel for the game, and played with a nice solid pace, changing heights and speeds to get his shot off. He doesn’t need to change anything in the classroom as the PG is a 3.7 student.

[player_tooltip player_id="859641" first="Damion" last="Byrd"] 6’0 PG Silverado 2022 (#12PHN 2022) - Byrd’s defensive ability was on display this weekend. He was tough on ball and terrific with his help-side defense. It should come as no surprise that the cerebral PG is also terrific in the classroom as He’s also terrific in the classroom as he rocks a 4.0 GPA.
