The 2022 class is loaded with talent at the guard position, even before Zion Cruz transferred back into the Garden State. [player_tooltip player_id="850662" first="Will" last="Richardson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850664" first="Mark" last="Armstrong"] were both All-State performers last season, while [player_tooltip player_id="787669" first="Corey" last="Floyd Jr"]. has been a key part for Roselle Catholic the last two seasons. The backcourt is not the only talented group as the frontcourt talent is capable of putting up big numbers this season. Here are the top 2022 forwards set for big 2020-21 seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id="901965" first="Charles" last="Anyichie"], 6’7 PF Ranney

Anyichie has been red-hot on the soccer pitch and his success should translate onto the hardwood. The 6’7 multi-sport athlete has poured in six goals in two games as he puts himself in a good position to score. Anyichie loves to finish above the rim and his spatial awareness on the field should lead to him getting more easy baskets this year. He rips down rebounds and has good timing to block shots around the basket. Ranney returns everybody down low, but Anyichie’s combination of speed, athleticism and finishing should make him one of the breakout candidates in the Shore Conference.

[player_tooltip player_id="1013041" first="David" last="Luberoff"], 6’8 PF Midland Park

No post player’s stock rose higher than Luberoff after a big summer for the NJ Beasts 16U team. The 6’8 forward plays with good footwork down low and is unafraid of finishing through contact. Luberoff has a good release on his jumper and his range extends past the three-point line. He is one of the top shot-blockers in the class as he uses great timing and length down low. Luberoff is a tough stretch-four prospect who should be one of the top players in Group 1 this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045718" first="Isaiah" last="Earl"], 6’8 SF/PF St. Benedict’s

Earl will be making his debut for the Grey Bees this season and should make an impact right away. The Lee Academy transfer is an athletic forward prospect who loves to finish above the rim. Earl can handle the ball on the perimeter and has a good touch around the basket. He uses his length and athleticism to block shots around the rim and can defend multiple positions on the floor. Earl’s combination of athleticism and length makes him an intriguing piece for a talented St. Benedict’s team.

[player_tooltip player_id="901974" first="Donovan" last="Long"], 6’6 SF Rutgers Prep

The Argonauts have a talented duo in [player_tooltip player_id="850499" first="Trey" last="Patterson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="850507" first="Noah" last="Harris"], but Long is the team’s true X-factor. The Marist transfer has a motor that never stops and is one of the top post defenders in the class. Long is capable of attacking the basket from the perimeter and does not mind finishing through contact. He has a nice release on his jumper and has a solid mid-range game. Long’s ability to play hard on both ends of the floor makes Rutgers Prep one of the teams to watch in Somerset County this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1018572" first="Sean" last="Logan"], 6’10 PF Westfield

The Blue Devils return [player_tooltip player_id="1013052" first="Logan" last="Howland"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1018553" first="Jack" last="Spellman"] down low, but Logan has the chance to breakout this season. The lanky 6’10 forward is a big-time shot-blocker as he knows how to swat shots without fouling. Logan has a good release on his free throws and is working on his range. He has a good handle for a big guy and is the perfect man to play in the middle of a press break. Westfield is a team to watch this season with Logan getting more touches on the offensive end.

Other Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id="900305" first="Philip" last="Urban"], 6’6 SF Pennington

[player_tooltip player_id="1013060" first="Logan" last="Blake"], 6’6 SF/PF Delaware Valley

[player_tooltip player_id="1013045" first="Drew" last="Kania"], 6’7 PF Gill St. Bernard’s

[player_tooltip player_id="1013050" first="Andrew" last="Ball"], 6’6 SF Shawnee

[player_tooltip player_id="1039789" first="Luigi" last="Edoardo Tamborino"], 6’10 PF Morris Catholic
