In an unprecedented and unusual travel ball season, the summer evaluation process was far from the norm. With some prominent AAU programs deciding not to play due to the ongoing pandemic a lot of guys were either unable to participate or having to bounce between several teams just to get run and a look.

However, with a little extra leg work and the blessings of the internet through live streams, game film, and mixtapes the work still got done.

Here are some guys who I saw this summer that really put a boost on their stock.

[player_tooltip player_id="886985" first="Braden" last="Ray"], 6’4 SG, Red Bay: Good size with a well put together body, and that deadly stroke from deep was on full display for this good looking prospect. His ability to shoot the ball is second to none but he has really uses his physicality well which allows him to guard multiple positions inside and out. Throughout the summer he showed an improved ability to score off the dribble and also play above the rim in transition. Look for him to continue his upward trajectory in his senior year after a successful summer run with Nike Stars Elite.

[player_tooltip player_id="963328" first="Tommie" last="Law"], 6’3 SG, Mary G. Montgomery: This athletic wing shot up rankings boards after a successful junior year which earned him All-State honors. His run with AOB Elite further solidified him as a legit top 25 player in the state. The lefty is great in transition and has shown his work in the gym with his improved jump shot. Looking for an even better senior year as his recruitment heats up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1040678" first="Jojo" last="James"], 5’11 G, Pinson Valley: After being the 3rd wheel the past two seasons at Pinson Valley, Jojo is looking for a breakout senior season. His play over several platforms over the spring and summer had him skyrocket up the rankings. His ability to attack and score at the basket is next level, but one of his best assets is his ability to clean up the offensive glass. He is arguably the best offensive rebounding guard in the class. Look for big numbers in big games for this budding prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="887005" first="Nathan" last="Johns"], 6’6 F, Jemison: This hard-working hybrid post player has shown an improved ability throughout the summer to play on the wing. His run with Hawks Elite this summer was enough to open the eyes of many throughout the state. I really expect HUGE numbers from him this upcoming season that will put college coaches on notice.

[player_tooltip player_id="887034" first="Crews" last="Proctor"], 6’3 CG, Sylacauga: Funny how sometimes the guy you go to see doesn't end up being the guy who impresses you, but its another guy that just pops off the court. For me that was Crews. His ability to run a team is exceptional. He has a very high IQ and does a great job of getting to the paint and creating scoring opportunities for himself and teammates. He is bigger than he looks right off and though he isn't the fastest he makes up for it with his craftiness and ability to control the pace. He showed throughout the summer with ProOne he has the ability to play and compete on the college level.
