Pangos All West Frosh/Soph Camp: SoCal Players Pt. 1

<p>High School basketball has been postponed until March at the earliest in California, and multiple players have continued to take part in various grassroots events in other parts of the country.</p> <p>One of those events, the Pangos All West Frosh/Soph Camp was held this weekend in Utah. The camp featured some of the top talent in the classes of 2023 and 2024 on the West Coast.</p> <p>Here’s a look at some of the local Southern California players who participated in the camp.</p> <p><strong>1. [player_tooltip player_id="992478" first="Jazz" last="Gardner"] - Los Altos 2023</strong></p> <p>Gardner is one of the most intriguing prospects in all of Southern California. He has imposing size at 6-10. He moves his feet well on defense, especially in the paint. He times his blocks well and he can recover and get from one side of the paint to the other in a hurry. Offensively, he has a soft touch around the rim and nice little hook shot. He’s relentless on the glass and gets second shot opportunities off missed shots.</p> <p><strong>2. [player_tooltip player_id="994919" first="Justin" last="Daniels"] - Mater Dei 2023</strong></p> <p>Daniels is another very intriguing prospect. He didn’t play much at all as a freshman last season with the Monarchs, but should have an increased role in his second year of high school basketball. He’s shown flashes of his potential at various grassroots events over the past year. He is a wing player who stands at 6-4 already with room to grow. He’s shown the ability to be a scorer at all three levels.</p> <p><strong>3. Gavin Moerhing - Valencia 2023</strong></p> <p>Moerhing has good size and the ability to play both in the paint and on the wing. He has good strength in the paint. He takes his time and shows good patience around the rim. He can play with his back to the basket and finish over smaller defenders. He crashes the glass and shows good timing on his rebounding. He can handle the ball a little bit too.</p> <p><strong>4. [player_tooltip player_id="994974" first="Maurice" last="Wright"] Jr. - Santa Clarita Christian 2023</strong></p> <p>Wright has a knack for being able to score the basketball. He is a versatile scorer who can score in multiple ways. He can shoot from the outside, he can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, he can shoot off the dribble, he’s going to be a deadly scorer the next couple of years in high school. He also has good court vision and can serve as the team’s primary ball-handler.</p>
