Some of the top high school players in the country took part in the event, including many from Southern California.
Here’s a look at some more of the local SoCal players who took part in the event.
1. David Manea David Manea 6'6" | SF Orange Lutheran | 2023 CA-S – Beckman 2023
Manea has nice handles for a bigger player. He’s kind of a wing/post hybrid type player. He can play in post. He’s athletic and finishes well at the rim around contact. Can shoot from three-point range. Great court vision especially in half court; finds cutters and shooters. Can start a break off rebounding. Good midrange game. Can stop and pop and shoot off the dribble.
2. Marco Kenz Marco Kenz 6'6" | PF St. John Bosco | 2022 State CA-S – St John Bosco 2022
Kenz has nice footwork in paint; he’s solid and fundamental. He has range out to the three-point line but is most effective around the rim. Has good size and length to finish over defenders. Passes well for a big man; good vision in the high post and on the break; he keeps his head up. Pretty good offensive rebounder. He sprints out in transition.
3. Everett May Everett May 6'5" | SF Los Alamitos | 2021 State CA-S – Los Alamitos 2022
May is a great three-point shooter. He can pull-up and shoot in transition. Can move without ball and come off curl screens to get open. Squares up well with quick release. Can shoot off dribble too and he has a good midrange game for when the defense runs him off the three-point line. Good catch and shoot player. Good corner three. Can shoot with defense rushing at him.
4. Mattias Stromberg – JSerra 2021
Stromberg stands out for his rebounding both defensive and offensive. Gets the break started with rebounding. Creates second shot opportunities. Can step out and hit shots from three-point line. He can finish strong at the rim. Decent free-throw shooter.
