SoCal’s Best Available in 2021 (Pt. 8)

<p>It seems like class of 2021 players across the country are pulling the trigger on commitments early than they would in a normal year. As we all know this certainly isn’t a normal year as the COVID-19 pandemic has limited the number of events and participants across the country.</p> <p>In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the best available prospects in SoCal.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="680225" first="Barry" last="Wilds"]</strong>, Fairfax - The lightning quick point guard is one of the more active and anticipatory defender in the region. Wilds’ quick reaction time and quick hands allow him to shoot passing lanes for steals in the Lions’ pressure defensive system. Offensively, Wilds is best in transition where he uses his speed to blow by defenders and get to the rim for paint finishes.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="680228" first="JoJo" last="Johnson"]</strong>, Westchester - The smooth shooting lefty had a solid season for Ed Azzam and the Comets last season. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard has deep range and a quick trigger on his three-point shot to go along with deep and consistent range. Johnson still has some work to do to improve his defense and ability to create shots for himself and others off the bounce.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="680231" first="Justin" last="Rochelin"]</strong>, Heritage Christian - Rochelin was sidelined much of last season due to injury, but still remains a guy who should remain on the radar of college coaches. The 6-foot-3 guard is a smooth shooter who can knock down perimeter jumpers both off the catch and off the bounce. We’re looking forward to seeing him back on the floor to get a further evaluation.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="680234" first="Brendan" last="Terry"]</strong>, Crossroads - Terry is a beast of an athlete and power finisher in the paint in transition and half-court settings. The 6-foot-7 forward has a powerful frame and explosive vertical leaping ability, both of which lend to his high percentage finishing around the basket. Terry changes ends of the floor well despite his size and is a high rate positional rebounder.</p>
