The Skyland Conference had a tremendous season in 2019-20 with Rutgers Prep, Watchung Hills and Gill St. Bernard’s all spending the majority of the season in the top 10. All three of those teams competed in a sectional final, along with Bound Brook. The conference is filled with big-time talent who should make an impact at the next level. Here are the top duos in the Skyland Conference.

Rutgers Prep

The Argonauts were one of the top teams in the state all season long and they will be again in 2020-21 with one of the top duos in the state. Villanova commit [player_tooltip player_id="850499" first="Trey" last="Patterson"] is a skilled wing with the ability to score from all three levels. He can handle the ball on the perimeter and skies for rebounds. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id="850507" first="Noah" last="Harris"] is one of the top shooters in the state and is adept at running the offense. Rutgers Prep adds Marist transfer [player_tooltip player_id="901974" first="Donovan" last="Long"], which should help Patterson and Harris have a big 2020-21 season.

Gill St. Bernard’s

The Knights were seconds away from taking home the Non-Public B North last season and they will be one of the favorites again this season. [player_tooltip player_id="850666" first="Denver" last="Anglin"] is a big-time shooter who also knows how to run the offense. He dropped 30 points against Camden and plays his best in big games. [player_tooltip player_id="902732" first="Mackenzie" last="Mgbako"] is a talented small forward who can put the ball on the floor, score around the basket and knock down three-pointers. Gill St. Bernard’s is one of the most talented teams in New Jersey with Anglin and Mgbako running the offense.

Bound Brook

The Crusaders are one of the top teams in Group 1 and they are one of the favorites to make the Tournament of Champions in 2020-21. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id="901978" first="Quadir" last="Harrell"] runs the show for Bound Brook and can score in a variety of ways. He has a good handle and can get hot from distance in a hurry. [player_tooltip player_id="929517" first="Cam’Ron" last="Summers"] is a versatile guard prospect who can score around the basket, draws contact and plays good on-ball defense. Harrell and Summers are a dangerous duo, who are looking to take home the Central Jersey Group 1 title this season.

Watchung Hills

The Warriors were so close to winning the North Jersey 2 Group 4 title, but they will have to replace First Team All-State selection [player_tooltip player_id="896632" first="Michael" last="Bressler"]. Dual-sport star [player_tooltip player_id="900332" first="Chad" last="Martini"] returns and is a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor. The 6’6 forward has a nice touch around the basket and is a good athlete who can finish above the rim. [player_tooltip player_id="929528" first="Trevor" last="Bokach"] is one of the top-way guards in the conference as he can lock down opponents and get to the rim. Watchung Hills should be one of the top teams again in Group 4 with Martini and Bokach returning.

Montgomery

Lafayette commit [player_tooltip player_id="900301" first="Chris" last="Rubayo"] and [player_tooltip player_id="901990" first="Ryan" last="Curry"] are a talented duo who should have a big 2020-21 season. The former is a lanky stretch four who has a nice release on his jumper. Curry has a good handle and can beat his defender off the bounce. He plays under control on offense and has a good chemistry with Rubayo. Montgomery should eclipse the 20-win mark this season with Curry and Rubayo returning for another season.

Hunterdon Central: Brian Johannson & [player_tooltip player_id="1012963" first="Thomas" last="Menyhert"]

Pingry: [player_tooltip player_id="900358" first="Reese" last="Swittenberg"] & [player_tooltip player_id="1016636" first="Ethan" last="Mannello"]

Franklin: [player_tooltip player_id="900361" first="Anthony" last="Milligan"] & [player_tooltip player_id="1013022" first="Demi" last="Alao"]
