Oklahoma State Tournament: 16U Top Performances

<p>Among the talent in 16U at the Oklahoma State Tournament hosted by Prep Hoops, these are some of the players who I saw perform exceptionally for their teams throughout the weekend.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="792205" first="Massai" last="Graham"] | 2022 NEBC | Forward</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="792205" first="Massai" last="Graham"] was dominant on both offense and defense. He uses his height (6’7") and athleticism to score in the paint, block shots, and get up for rebounds. He has a lot of size for his position and a large presence in the paint. His offensive rebounding was prominent and led to a lot of second chance points for him and his teammates. Graham was often able to score through contact and finish with emphatic dunks. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="955383" first="Reid" last="Lovelace"] | 2022 Team Buddy Buckets | Guard</strong></p> <p>Lovelace fulfilled exactly what his team needed in the point guard position. He was able to create space with his ball handling and exhibited great court vision by finding teammates for open shots with some exceptional passing. In addition to distributing and creating for his teammates, [player_tooltip player_id="955383" first="Reid" last="Lovelace"] showed that he can also shoot the ball well from the perimeter.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="965211" first="Brayson" last="Lawson"] | 2022 Tulsa Hawks White | Guard</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="965211" first="Brayson" last="Lawson"] is quick off the dribble and was able to get to the rim quite a bit. He has effective driving moves and was difficult for the defense to guard in transition. Lawson also shot efficiently from three-point range and knocked down shots in bunches, especially when given space. On top of driving and shooting, he helped his team on both sides of the ball by constantly hustling and helping on defense.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="955392" first="Tyreece" last="Frierson"] | 2022 Drive Nation | Guard</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="955392" first="Tyreece" last="Frierson"] was one of the best ball-handlers and off-the-dribble shooters I saw this weekend. He showed that he can hit shots off the step back and pulling up in transition from mid-range and behind the three-point line. His crossover and quickness often made it difficult for defenders to stay in front of him which allowed him to get space for a shot, drive, or find open teammates. With much of the offense run through him, his scoring and playmaking was essential to his team.</p> <p><strong>Keivon Hudson | 2022 Next Level | Wing</strong></p> <p>Keivon Hudson showed that he is a versatile player. He boxed out well to get rebounds, blocked shots, scored around the rim, and shot the basketball. At 6’5", he dribbled and shot well from the mid-range and the perimeter. He drew contact and got to the free-throw line a lot of the time if he wasn’t able to finish off the drive.
