Among the the promising and talented young players in the 16U division, here are some of the top performers who stood out to me this Saturday at the Oklahoma State Tournament hosted by Prep Hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id="955383" first="Reid" last="Lovelace"] | 2022 Team Buddy Buckets | Guard

[player_tooltip player_id="955383" first="Reid" last="Lovelace"] was essential to his team’s success throughout the day. His exceptional ball handling allowed him to create space, and he displayed great court vision and passing by finding open teammates at the right times. His effective communication on both sides of the ball seemed to help his team stay involved and working together. In addition to being able to score both inside off the dribble and at the perimeter, Lovelace has a high basketball I.Q. and creative passing ability.

[player_tooltip player_id="1035097" first="Michal" last="Woolridge"] | 2022 Team Buddy Buckets | Center

Woolridge used his height and build to get rebounds and score in the paint. At his size, he has good hand eye coordination and is able to follow the ball off of the rim well. His defense and rebounding combined with his scoring makes him a very effective center.

Massai Graham | 2022 NEBC | Forward

At 6’7", Graham utilized not only his height, but also his quickness and athleticism to elevate for rebounds, block shots, and score around the rim. His rebounding created many second chance opportunities that led to points for him and his teammates. He was dominant in the paint, and the defense rarely had an answer for him. Massai Graham’s height and size at his position allows him to shoot over defenders, finish at the basket off the dribble, and defend effectively.

[player_tooltip player_id="965212" first="Ty" last="O’Neal"] | 2022 Tulsa Hawks Blue | Forward

[player_tooltip player_id="965212" first="Ty" last="O’Neal"] had a clutch performance today by delivering a game winner that got the crowd on their feet.

[player_tooltip player_id="965211" first="Brayson" last="Lawson"] | 2022 Tulsa Hawks White | Guard

[player_tooltip player_id="965211" first="Brayson" last="Lawson"] frequently got past defenders with his ball handling and quickness off the dribble. He displayed grittiness and hustle on offense and the defensive end, often leading to stops. Lawson showed that he is effective at driving and getting to the rim while also shooting well from three-point range, especially if given space.
