Battle of the Brands: Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2021

A few weekends ago, Indy Heat and Indiana Elite got together to play each other in one of the best scouting opportunities you could have in the climate we are currently in. This was extremely helpful and gave us a much better look at some of these top players in the state.

Today, we are taking a look at team-by-team with how they played and our overall thoughts on each player on their rosters.

Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="529572" first="Trey" last="Kaufman"] – 6’8 PF 2021 – Silver Creek (IN)

Kaufman is arguably the most skilled prospect in the entire state of Indiana. So big and strong and just does everything so well. Showed off his excellent driving ability a ton throughout this game. His game is more built around that ball handling ability and creating space to make a play. One of the more underrated parts of his game has to be his court vision and patience with the ball. He has tons of high major offers and could see him maybe snag a few more this next year. Will for sure be one of the favorites to win Mr. Indiana this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="529593" first="Jayden" last="Brewer"] – 6’5 SF 2021 – Avon (IN)

Brewer is a thin wing with a ton of athleticism and skill. Showed off some nice rebounding ability and drove the ball down the court a few times. He is so fast and just so smooth when he has the space to run. Showed some nice defensive ability and his long arms and body really helps with that. Not really a shooter as he looks to score around the basket more often. Once he develops a jumper he is going to be tough to stop at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="647193" first="Douglas" last="Konieczny"] – 6’7 SF 2021 – South Bend St. Joseph (IN)

Konieczny is a long, rangy forward that can be an elite scorer at times. Quick trigger and is always looking to shoot. Real good creator, especially around the perimeter. Looks as though he plays with a ton of confidence. Already has committed to Notre Dame and he should make an immediate impact just on his shooting ability alone. Just needs to get a bit stronger but other than that he is an elite player.

[player_tooltip player_id="569304" first="Jayden" last="Taylor"] – 6’4 SG 2021 – Perry Meridian (IN)

Taylor is a tall wing with excellent shooting ability. Had a ton of pullup 3's throughout this game. Type of player that can get hot at any moment in a game. Likes to stick around the outside more often but it works for him at the moment. Also showed some good defense during this game and had a few stops. Needs to add some more strength and size. Fun player to watch and can really provide a team with some nice outside shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id="647209" first="Connor" last="Hickman"] – 6’2 PG 2021 – Bloomington South (IN)

Hickman is a tough guard who just recently committed to Bradley. Pretty athletic and has an aggressive mindset. Drove well and used his size and strength to finish. Hard to tell at the moment if he is going to be more on or off the ball at the next level. Good shooter but did not shoot a ton during this game. Hickman is just a real solid player that is going to be huge for Bloomington South this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="963905" first="Mason" last="Nicholson"] – 6’9 C 2021 – Gary West (IN)

Nicholson is a big, bruising post player who plays like a true big man. Solid fundamentals and is an excellent rebounder. Looks like he has slimmed down a bit but still needs to work on his mobility, especially running up and down the court. Posts up real well and has a soft touch around rim. He has a enough big man talent that you can mold and improve at the next level. Would be shocked to see him not get any offers this upcoming season.
