July was a busy month in South Florida with prospects getting calls from collegiate programs. I expect the month of August to be no different. We are churning towards the end of the summer circuit so kids are looking to go out with a bang.

Let’s jump right into the latest headlines...

[player_tooltip player_id="709219" first="Matthew" last="Bewley"] - The 2023 6-foot-9 superstar picked up an offer from Illinois on Monday, adding to the long list of programs vying for his services. Bewley has been impressive with Team Breakdown and is fresh off a 30-point performance against Team Thrill. Five-Star 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="546189" first="Jarace" last="Walker"] is a highlight name on that team.

[player_tooltip player_id="709220" first="Ryan" last="Bewley"] - The 2023 6-foot-9 twin also picked up an offer from the Fighting Illini. Bewley’s game is accelerating and he hasn’t even reached sophomore status. I am looking for a more polished offensive skill set when he gets back to Oakland Park. I think the work he has put in with 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="773411" first="Wesley" last="Cardet Jr"] will really show. Furthermore, a competitive schedule will allow Northeast to really shine.

Jessiah Pierre Johnson - The offers have just begun to roll in for the 2023 point guard. The latest to offer JPJ is Bryant University. Johnson has been improving his shot this summer and diversifying his ability to attack the basket. The future U-School star is going to be a problem as he adds on size to go along with his quickness. McNeese State offered Johnson back in June. Look for him to have a good relationship with 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709227" first="Jaylen" last="Carey"]. I see a lot of dribble penetration by Johnson and dishes to the 6-foot-7 forward/center in the future.

Ricky Ballard - The 6-foot-6 combo guard has the back-court framework college coaches are looking for. The Sagemont star has a quick release on his outside shot and is a deadly perimeter defender. Moreover, Ballard’s length makes him an excellent rim protector around the paint. Ballard’s name recognition in South Florida has really just begun. I am looking for him to ascend up the regions radar in his junior year. Florida Atlantic, Liberty, Appalachian State, Troy and Princeton have been communicating with him heavily.

Nicolas Louis-Jacques - Louis-Jaqcues recently reclassified to 2021 and is heading north to Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut. The former South Miami star teamed up with [player_tooltip player_id="818672" first="Arturo" last="Dean"] to lead the Cobras to a 22-6 record. Louis-Jacques will look to hone his skills as a shooting guard at his new home. Old Dominion is the latest school to offer Louis-Jacques. New Hampshire, Mercer and Stetson have also offered him.
