Here are some of the forwards to watch at the Class B level:
Joe Hurlburt Joe Hurlburt 6'10" | PF Enderlin | 2022 State #147 Nation MN , Enderlin
It’s been a long time since North Dakota has had a prospect with the kind of hype Hurlburt is getting and will continue to get over the course of the next year and a half. The Enderlin big man is having a terrific showing playing grassroots with D1 Minnesota and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s ranked in the top-100 by recruiting services in the near future. Enderlin’s beefed up its non-region schedule this upcoming winter, so he’ll be in the spotlight as much as any player in Class B this winter too.
Bronson Walter Bronson Walter 6'10" | C Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2021 State ND , Four Winds/Minnewaukan
Walter will be the featured offensive player for the Indians as a senior and his ability to score in the low post and handle double (and triple) teams makes him a rare commodity. Four Winds/Minnewaukan will likely be ranked No. 1 in the state and Walter’s two-way impact is the central figure to the Indians’ success.
Carter Englund, Shiloh Christian
Englund started as a sophomore for the Skyhawks and excelled in a complementary role. The 6-foot-6 center averaged just less than 10 points per game and flashed the ability to put up points in bunches against elite competition. He’ll assume a feature role as an upperclassman, and he’s got the post skill, shooting ability and athleticism to be one of the best players in Region 5.
Alex Huber Alex Huber 6'6" | SF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2021 State ND , Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier
Huber was terrific as a junior, averaging nearly 20 points and seven rebounds while leading EKM to a Region 3 championship. He’s got a good shot to lead the Rebels to a second-straight Region 3 title as a senior and a state tournament berth, as he’s one of the best forwards in the state. He’s long, active and skilled inside and out. He’s a mismatch nightmare for most opponents and should be an all-state guy as a senior.
Isaiah Bundy-Smith Isaiah Bundy-Smith 6'4" | PF Rugby | 2021 State ND , Rugby
Bundy-Smith’s done well in a complementary role for a Rugby team that’s consistently been in the top-five each of the last two years. With three double-figure scoring seniors gone to graduation, he’s got a path to a much more prominent role. The 6-foot-6 big man showed at times last year what he’s capable of in terms of scoring, rebounding, making plays and defending all over the floor. Now he’ll need to do that consistently. He’s got the ability to be a double-double guy for a Rugby team that should still be a contender in Region 6.
