You know what I quickly learned living down here?

The weather can change by the minute. I swear to you it could be raining on one end of the street and not the other. In a way, the prospects moving around from school to school here in South Florida can be like that as well. I just wrote a piece last week and a bunch of kids moved around days later!

It is what it is...

To help us all out, I have capsulized a piece on the most recent moves. With the competition as rich as it is, these shifting pieces are almost expected.

Let’s jump into the list..

[player_tooltip player_id="709215" first="Marvel" last="Allen"] - Wellington to Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale)

Calvary Christian now reminds me of the guy or girl who gets to walk right into the club from the VIP line. The rest of us just stand there for hours feeling like mortals. The addition of the 6-foot-4 Allen boosts the Eagles credibility even higher. The 2023 point guard averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Wellington last year. Allen picked up offers from Virginia Tech and LSU within the last week. Alongside Allen will be talented 2023 Carl Cherenfant. The 6-foot-5 combo guard is aggressive getting to the basket and is a solid defender. Cherenfant also has an offer from the Tigers and another from Western Kentucky. I didn’t even even mention 2022 forward’s [player_tooltip player_id="814895" first="Gregg" last="Glenn"] or [player_tooltip player_id="712107" first="Taylor" last="Hendricks"]. Glenn led the Eagles in points per game last season and Hendricks finished third behind 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="827896" first="Roger" last="McFarlane"] and 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814897" first="Jett" last="Howard"] at University School. Both players should averages upwards of 15 points per game. Additionally, the D-1 prospects should thrive with this Eagles back-court in place. Over the course of this off-season, 2021 forward Dylan Canonville is a name we’ve mentioned to also keep a close eye on. Now this team needs to get to work and produce. The expectations for Calvary Christian should be through the roof.

David Fernandez/[player_tooltip player_id="962550" first="Daniel" last="Fernandez"] - Belen Jesuit to Westminster Christian

Just a few days ago, I pegged these brothers as two to watch for the Wolverines. Now, just do me a favor and shift the furniture a little bit. 2021 David Fernandez and 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="962550" first="Daniel" last="Fernandez"] will be joining the Warriors to play for head coach P.J. Brown. Brown led Westminster Christian to a 19-9 record and a district championship last season. The addition of the Fernandez brothers brings a combined 28 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals per game to the Warriors. Collectively, the pair showed a lot of heart and determination when I saw them play against Riviera Prep last season.

[player_tooltip player_id="818716" first="Frankie" last="Idlett"] - Westminster Christian to Gulliver Prep

2021 guard [player_tooltip player_id="818716" first="Frankie" last="Idlett"] moves to Gulliver Prep in what can only be described as a huge add. The Raiders lost 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="828033" first="Gabe" last="Taylor"], 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="827907" first="Donnell" last="Harris"], 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="827888" first="Tony" last="Sanders"], 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="828104" first="Diego" last="LaMonica"] and 2020 EJ Jackson to graduation. The five mentioned all went D-1 for football or basketball. Idlett averaged 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season for the Warriors. Moreover, the rising senior shot 45% from behind the 3-point line as a junior. Idlett will have the privilege of getting coached by one of the best basketball minds in the country in Gary DeCesare. DeCesare is a tough coach with professional experience that will bring out the best in Idlett.

[player_tooltip player_id="953071" first="Jordan" last="Johnson"] - Fort Lauderdale to University School

After the loss of Hendricks (Calvary) and Howard to IMG Academy, University School gets one back in 2021 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="953071" first="Jordan" last="Johnson"]. The 6-foot-3 Johnson will pair up with 2023 Jessiah Pierre Johnson to try and hold what has been a string of recent success for the Sharks. Johnson helped Fort Lauderdale to an 19-8 record last season. University School still has 6-foot-7 riser [player_tooltip player_id="709227" first="Jaylen" last="Carey"] and crafty 2022 guard Caelum Ethridge in their rotation as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="818712" first="Jabari" last="Williams"] - Schoolhouse Prep to Calusa Prep

Williams will be an intriguing watch for the Colts down in Miami. The 2021 is a front court big who moves well from end to end at his 6-foot-11 size. His frame alone should cause problems in set-up situations in the middle of the paint. I am interested to see his development as a D-1 prospect. Moreover, Williams has been receiving chatter from programs. In addition, joining Williams will be 6-foot-8 forward [player_tooltip player_id="818867" first="Jehu" last="Wright"]. The combination should bring size and versatility on the floor for Calusa Prep.

Other Transfers/Notes:

2021 6-foot-9 Edward Nnamoko - Schoolhouse Prep to Gulliver Prep

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="684398" first="Jimel" last="Cofer"] Jr. and 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="812618" first="Jayven" last="Cofer"] have transferred from Schoolhouse Prep back to Texas Universal Academy
