[player_tooltip player_id="919668" first="Joe" last="Mpoyo"] (Meridian HS): The 6’4” guard/forward from the class of 2021 shot the ball well last season making 28/59 for 47.5%. Entering his senior season, look for Joe to be back in the lab improving his jumper and working on his guard skills even more. If Joe shares any of his genes with his older brother (Axel Mpoyo, Grambling State, 6’9”), be on the lookout for a growth spurt that would solidify his spot as one of the best guard/forwards in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="969588" first="McKay" last="Anderson"] (Meridian HS): Another class of 2021 guard from Meridian High school, McKay has a deadly jumpshot. His quick release and excellent form make it easy to see how much time he has spent in the gym. Beyond his jumper, McKay is also a hard-nosed defender and an excellent passer averaging 2.7 assists per game. Teams are going to want to stay out on the perimeter if they play Meridian in the upcoming season!

Leyton Smithson (Mountain View HS): One of the youngest players on this list, Leyton is a sharp-shooter from the class of 2022. Leyton shot 40% from 3 this year and has the potential to keep getting better as his high school career progresses. Aside from his great shooting ability, Leyton also dished out 2 assists per game as a sophomore and the sky’s the limit for his overall game. Beyond the court, Leyton is a member of the Mavericks football team and a dynamic athlete.

[player_tooltip player_id="969931" first="Nate" last="Cherry"] (Capital HS): Of those listed, Nate put up the most 3’s of anyone and nearly eclipsed the 40% mark. As a member of the class of 2022, we can only expect Nate to carry more of the weight for the team and improve his percentages while taking more shots. He has a smooth release and great form making you think it is going in every time the ball leaves his hands. Nate will have a great opportunity to lead the Eagles this season in. pursuit of a deep run in the conference tournament, and hopefully beyond.
