Top 2022’s in the Capital City

This is a continued list of some of the top hoopers in Lincoln. We’re now featuring some fellas within the class of 2022. These are players that all collegiate coaches, and hoops fans need to make a priority to check out next season. I would also highly recommend their HUDL highlights. These young men have talents that will stretch far beyond the Nebraska borders but will be a treat to watch this next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="981700" first="Jared" last="Bohrer"] 6’0 Lincoln Southwest- VIDEO Bohrer is a flat out scorer. He scored double digits for the Silver Hawks on 16 occasions as a Sophomore last season. This is one of the best shooters in the Cornhusker state shooting 38% from 3 point range and over 80% from the free-throw line. Bohrer also has excellent quickness and amazing court vision. This kid has a bright future ahead of him. 12.2 PPG 2.5 APG

[player_tooltip player_id="981702" first="Jake" last="Appleget"] 6’4 Lincoln Southeast- VIDEO Appleget is a kid who takes a lot of pride in blocking shots. As a sophomore last season he lead the knights in blocked shots. Unlike most shot blockers, Appleget is deadly from 3 point range. This is a rare combination in hoops and look for Appleget to have a huge Junior season. 7.4 PPG 1.2 APG 4.7 RPG 1.3 SPG

[player_tooltip player_id="981706" first="Ben" last="Hunzeker"] 6’3 Lincoln Southwest- Hunzeker is a stat stuffer who is extremely skilled and versatile. Hunzeker can get the rebounds, then push the ball up the court and find an open teammate or finish himself. At 6’3 he has great size for a guard and has great strength to finish at the rim. Hunzeker did not take many 3’s as a Sophomore but shot 45% from behind the arc. 6.6 PPG 2.8 APG 4.5 RPG

Antonio Murillo 6’3 Lincoln High- Murillo is a solid defensive player who can often be seen getting deflections or blocking shots. At 6"3 Murillo plays much bigger than that managing to block shots consistently. Murillo also is a good 3 point shooter and deadly from the corner. This is another kid who will continue to get better and be a key player for the Links. 7.0 PPG 2.7 RPG

Easton Marshbanks 6’8 Lincoln Christian Marshbanks moves very well for being 6 foot 8. He is a shot-blocking machine that completely changes opponents offensive strategies. He does a great job of getting in position for offensive rebounds and put backs. I fully expect Marshbanks to turn into a star for the Crusaders going forward. 6.0 PPG 4.4 RPG 1.0 BPG

[player_tooltip player_id="981716" first="Ja" last="Reese Lott-Buzby"] 6’0 Lincoln High- This is another multi-sport athlete stud. Lott-Buzby has plenty of highlights on the football field but is also a really good basketball player as well. He is very quick and has a really good shot from outside. Lott-Buzby plays with a ton of confidence and has a huge upside. I think this kid will be a star moving forward for the Links. 6.4 PPG 1.4 APG 3.3 RPG

[player_tooltip player_id="981714" first="Zander" last="Beard"] 5’10 Lincoln Northeast This is a kid you can watch for a little bit and just tell he is going to be a player. As a sophomore, he was behind some solid players in the Rockets lineup. However, this kid has all the tools to be one of the breakout stars in the state of Nebraska next season. He is a super athletic guard who plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. He is a kid I would take on my team any day of the week. 4.6 PPG 1.1 APG 1.7 RPG 1.0 SPG

Jaheim Curry 6’1 Parkview Christian- Curry had a good season on a 3rd place finishing Parkview Christain team. He is a lengthy lefty who is pretty good all around. He can shoot the ball from the outside very well. He plays tough defense and creates Havok on opposing teams. This is a kid who played behind a good group of seniors. I fully expect Curry to be one of the best players in Lincoln next season. 5.5 PPG 2.4 RPG 1.2 SPG

Sam Hastreiter 6”6 Lincoln Pius- VIDEO This kid is a true joy to watch. Hastreiter has one of the best looking jump shots around and combines that with some great athleticism. He can do it all on the basketball court and will help the Bolts win a lot of games over the next couple of seasons. This kid will knock down a 3 then go down to the other end get a steal, transition down and throw down a monster dunk. He is one of the best-kept secrets but not for long. 4.4 PPG 3.2 RPG
