Rising seniors took advantage of The Tip-Off Classic stage and performed well. Here are some players that stood out to me and improved their stock.

<img class="alignleft wp-image-1009883 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/IMG_6316-150x150.jpg" alt="[player_tooltip player_id="1011333" first="Jackson" last="Watson"]" width="150" height="150" />2021 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="1011333" first="Jackson" last="Watson"] – D-Favors Celtics

It was the best I’ve ever seen [player_tooltip player_id="1011333" first="Jackson" last="Watson"] on Saturday as he efficiently picked apart Skillset Worldwide with his offensive firepower. The spindly guard shots lights out, nailing four three-pointers to set the tone. Watson jumper was locked in from both distance and mid-range. He finished with 17 points and 4 rebounds. He should see an expanded role in the rotation at Tri-Cities.

2021 6-7 F Johnny Sweeney – Skillset Worldwide

Now entering his senior season, Johnny Sweeney put all the pieces together in an impressive showing against the D-Favors Celtics. The lanky stretch-four posted 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Sweeney hit two three-pointers. He has always had skill, but playing behind star players [player_tooltip player_id="754245" first="Taihland" last="Owens"], [player_tooltip player_id="869583" first="Elijah" last="Tucker"] and Zack Vickers, Sweeney only logged rotational minutes over his first three seasons. He played with confidence on Saturday and if he can carry that momentum the rest of the offseason and into the regular season, you may see Sweeney become a valuable piece for a talented Warrior team.

2021 6-3 W [player_tooltip player_id="1011334" first="Brock" last="Rechsteiner"] – Skillset Worldwide

The prototypical mold of recent Etowah Eagles. Rechsteiner, who has outstanding bloodlines, is a player who does the little things it takes to win. He is a very good outside shooter that spaces the floor but also has enough size and strength to attack the basket and finish through contact. The dual-sport star might not be the flashiest, but he competes and performs at a high level. He had 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block.

<img class="alignleft wp-image-1009884 size-thumbnail" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/07/IMG_6204-150x150.jpg" alt="[player_tooltip player_id="1011329" first="Jaeden" last="Marshall"]" width="150" height="150" />2021 6-3 G [player_tooltip player_id="1011329" first="Jaeden" last="Marshall"] – Celtics South

Marshall’s physical downhill play drew the attention of many. His mixture of strength and quickness caught opponents off guard. Marshall could play bully-ball on the block and on the glass. He didn’t showcase his outside shooting in the game I saw, but he shot 32% from three during the high school season. Marshall finished with a dominant 24 points vs. the MVA Outlawz. Coaches will want to keep tabs on the Richmond Hill Wildcat come high school season.

2021 6-4 W [player_tooltip player_id="869604" first="Bobby" last="Moore"] – NME

The late addition of McEachern bruiser [player_tooltip player_id="869604" first="Bobby" last="Moore"] paid dividends as NME made it all the way to the championship. Moore, a bully on the floor, plays with a mean streak. He can be a tenacious rebounder and powerful driver. His explosiveness allows him to play bigger than his size and routinely outmuscle and outjump taller players. His shot selection can use some refinement here and there, but Moore is a game-changing presence that needs to be accounted for. He had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in a win over Team Renegades.

2021 6-3 SG [player_tooltip player_id="869629" first="Kristian" last="Ford"] – NME

[player_tooltip player_id="869629" first="Kristian" last="Ford"]’s confidence has been through the roof after back-to-back strong tournaments. Ford has consistently hit the long ball – not anything new – but has also gotten to the basket at a better rate. Ford can now absorb contact and kiss the ball off the glass from tough angles when navigating the paint. The work he put in on his body over the shutdown is apparent and the fruits of his labor are beginning to show.

2021 6-6 W [player_tooltip player_id="949919" first="Max" last="Hrdlicka"] – ATL Timberwolves (White)

Ranked 125 in our latest 2021 rankings, Hrdlicka’s rise continues to climb as he will see a major jump come next update. Hrdlicka makes the game look easy with his nonchalant three-point stroke which he cashes in regularly. The strong wing never looks hurried with the ball and has a diverse game which leads to his multi-positional versatility. He was a double-digit scorer throughout the tournament and led the Timberwolves in scoring numerous times. His 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in a destruction of the Georgia Knights was subtly impressive.
