SubscribeAs the summer rolls around, the recruitment season for the class of 2021 is in full swing, with colleges also keeping an eye on other classes coming up, and try to secure a commitment as early as possible. The players in this section of the list definitely have what it takes to play in college, whether it be at the JUCO, NAIA, DIII, DII, or even DI level.
21. Adonis Rodriguez | Junior | McKee/Staten Island Tech
As a junior, Adonis Rodriguez has shown that he has what it takes to score in Staten Island. Staten Island, known for it’s heavy defense, was picked apart as Rodriguez had a breakout junior season. Rodriguez was able to continuously make himself a force in the driving lane, while he was also able to knock down shots from beyond the arc with expected results all season.
20. Joseph Fiumfreddo | Junior | Farrell
Joseph Fiumfreddo has made consistency his key during his time at Farrell. Fiumfreddo made sure that defense and shooting could be expected of him on a nightly basis. Fiumfreddo has the versatility needed to rotate and guard different sized players, while his offensive value provides quality floor spacing, spacing the defense out for a wide hole down the middle, as well as a knockdown shooter mentality.
19. Jalil Golden | Junior | McKee/Staten Island Tech
Jalil Golden has done his part in McKee’s moderate success this season. Golden made it his home, as well as his mission to speed past defenders and dazzle them with a flurry of handles in order to create an opening and solid contact at the rim, while defense was equally as impressive, where he was able to lock down his matchup and put pressure on the perimeter, forcing unnecessary turnovers and creating fastbreak opportunities.
18. Adrian Kopec | Sophomore | Wagner
In Adrian Kopec’s sophomore season, Kopec came on the junior varsity scene and demonstrated his affinity for shooting. Kopec is definitely a well-rounded player exhibiting above-average qualities all around the court, but his best quality is shooting. Kopec has been making the majority of his points from beyond the arc, and he should be a force for Wagner’s varsity squad next season.
17. Andrew Molina | Junior | Wagner
This season for Wagner’s varsity team, Molina was able to make his game consistent on a game by game basis. Molina made it his mission to drive to the rim, and his verticality and reach made it easy for him to contort around defenders on his way to the basket. Molina will be playing for the Jayhawks AAU team this summer, where he is expected to turn heads.
16. Iguhita Izevbuwa | Sophomore | Port Richmond
Only a sophomore, the play of Izevbuwa was very impressive this season, and is bound to be better. Izevbuwa made himself a double-double threat and a force in the paint, on both ends of the floor, as he turned away drivers on defense and was very active on second-chance points and pick and roll offensive action. Expect more this season from Izevbuwa as he plays in a larger role in the Port Richmond offense.
15. Erik Jarecki | Junior | Curtis
This season, Erik Jarecki has been exactly the point guard Curtis needs, and an above-average point guard in the city. Jarecki has shown that he can take the ball all 94 feet, from a fastbreak or a standstill offense, all the way to the other end of the floor. Jarecki has also shown above-average playmaking, as he has been finding teammates on a consistent basis, leading them to the bucket.
