Region 14 Outlook

The 7 team Region has been lead by Manti in the past few years. Delta has been good in the past and Juab can usually put a team together that can compete. This up-coming year it looks like Manti will be running things again as they seem to have a great system of developing talent. Last season Manti only suffered 1 loss and that was an 8 point loss to Dixie who won the 4A State Championship while Manti rolled and captured another 3A State Championship. Manti will return 11 players from last seasons State Championship team. [player_tooltip player_id="755658" first="Grady" last="Thompson"] will be the most productive player returning. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that these underclassmen can’t fill in because they can. Previously mentioned Manti is one of those programs that simply reloads and has players step up year after year. American Leadership Academy looses a few players that could really score and that helped position them into the next best on last years team. Marcus Kemp return and he will be joined by a few transfers coming over which could really position ALA into the same position that they were in last year. Replacing [player_tooltip player_id="543065" first="Derek" last="Smith"] due to graduation will be impossible which could leave Delta vulnerable to fall another spot to a team like Juab. Delta’s Austin Topham will really need to figure out a way to score the ball. The 6’4 athlete will have a lot of opportunities and shots this up-coming season. Juab on the other hand will return a good player in TY Allred who can play. He is unknown because he plays for a small school but the 6’8 big is going to be tough to deal with moving forward as there are no other players in the region that could really match his size. Look for Juab to really make a run and surprise some teams. North Sanpete has a lot of players that can contribute but will one player really step up and help them win those close games is the main question. Union won 2 games this past season and it was to region foe Maeser Prep. Both of these teams will struggle again to win games all year.
