Francisco’s Finest: Pangos Best of SoCal Summer Showcase (Class of 2024/Part 2)

LONG BEACH, CA—I felt the next time I’d be in a gym would be a surreal-like feeling—and that is exactly the case. Dinos Trigonis, who had been running events in Arizona, Utah, and Iowa—unveiled his first event in So-Cal—and it was quite good to say the least. From the playmaking abilities of Darryl Morris and Isaiah Elohim to the “man among boys” in James Evans, the talent was ubiquitous in the Class of 2024 tilt.

Kory Dodson (Riveside Poly)

2024, WF, 6-foot-3, 165 pounds

Joel’s take: Dodson, who is the son of Riverside Poly Head Coach, Yancy Dodson. Kory has a solid frame with good ball skills sprinkled with some savvy as well. His head is always up in the half court as he made the right basketball play frequently. In this game he played inside-and-out as he was one of the better rebounders and passers in the game—not too mention he exhibited a nice touch in the elbow area.

Jaden DePina (Heritage Christian)

2024, SG, 6-foot, 165 pounds

Joel’s take: Like his brother Dillon, Jaden has a knack to score as well. He can score from all three levels due to his ball skills and feel for the game. He does a nice job slashing his way to the rim and he can finish with either hand. His 1st step is quick and he showed strength finishing through contact.

Zoe Edosomwan (Northridge)

2024, PF, 6-foot-5, 170 pounds

Joel’s take: Zena Edosomwan, an All Conference player for Harvard in 2016, will have a sibling to cheer on for the next four years as his younger brother Zoe enters the high school ranks. He is a low post prospect with solid hands, good length, and he plays with patience on the block. He exhibited a nice drop step move and his touch in the paint is impressive.

Davon Griffin (Reseda/SCA)

2024, PG, 6-foot-1, 160 pounds

Joel’s take: Griffin was one of the better guard-types in the game as he possessed all the skills to be a varsity-level point guard sooner rather than later. His crossover is tight and he can get to the rim at will. He showed a nice pull-up game and handed out some nifty passes, but he’s a scorer first and foremost.
