Class of 2021 Potential Breakout Players Pt. 2

It’s been a different summer so far to say the least in the world of high school basketball. Grassroots events have largely gotten underway in some parts of the country while others are still on hold. A lot of players have been missing out on a time when they’d usually have ample opportunities to showcase their game for college coaches.

With events still pretty much on hold here in California, I’ve used the time to watch film on players that I haven’t quite watched in depth before. Here’s a group of players from the Class of 2021 that I’ve seen both in person and through film that could be players to look out for this upcoming season. I’ll have more groupings of players throughout this month.

1. [player_tooltip player_id="680225" first="Barry" last="Wilds"] – Fairfax

With the departure of a bunch of senior guards, Wilds is poised to have a breakout season for Fairfax. He is a combo guard with a solid feel for alternating between looking to score and looking to pass. He gets to where he wants to go on the court. Strong player when making a move to the rim and finishes strong in the paint. Good shooter from the three-point line.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="951240" first="Lorenzo" last="Marsh"] – St. Anthony

Marsh is a solid wing with good length and athleticism. He is active around the rim and in the paint and he is a solid rebounder who’s always looking to crash the glass. A skilled ball-handler at times and he has range out to the three-point line. He can run the floor well and go coast to coast from one end to the other. Not afraid to take and make big shots down the stretch.

3. T.J. Muhammad – Crossroads

Another player who stands to have a big year with senior departures. Muhammad can play both point guard and shooting guard. Worked well alongside Yuuki Okubo at the two, but will get much more opportunity with the ball in his hands. Can shoot from three, can make plays off the bounce, locks up defensively on the perimeter. A tough competitor who makes winning plays.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="951219" first="Elijah" last="Evans"] – Dominguez

Evans is a lengthy wing who can do a little bit of everything. He’s strong, especially when attacking off the dribble. He can bump off defenders on the way to the rim and he finishes strong in the paint. A solid rebounder who can put up double-digit rebounding games. He can handle the ball and make plays. Quick player with a decent midrange jump shot.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="951313" first="Anthony" last="Robinson"] – Long Beach Poly

Robinson is a point guard who excels in the open court. He is a blur on the fast break and can easily beat the defense down court. You need to be aware of him in transition because he’s looking to push the pace and get all the way to the rim. Crafty finisher around the rim. Dribbles with his head up and recognizes when his teammates are in good position for easy baskets.
