One of the many reasons why basketball is such a great game is because it’s skill driven, and based on countless hours of development. Players spend hours in the gym refining their skill and working to maximize every ounce of their potential. Sometimes it takes a few years for players to reach said potential, but that elusive ceiling is always out there. In this article PH takes a look at a few players that look ready to reach their ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id="859643" first="Shane" last="Thomas"] 6’3 SG Durango 2022 (#6PHN 2022) – Really simple here, Thomas missed most of the season at Centennial. He didn’t forget how to hoop though. R&J athlete that can shoot the ball. Only going to be a Junior, Thomas isn’t going to completely tap out, but we should get a glimpse into the type of prospect we’re looking at over the next few months.

[player_tooltip player_id="927135" first="Mason" last="Mich’l"] 6’7 PF Desert Oasis 2021 (#42PHN 2021) - Size and skill have always been there with Mich’l. Now just might be the opportunity for him to put it all together. A good R&J athlete, that can also stretch the floor, reaching his ceiling will definitely provide more scholarship opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id="858148" first="Kobe" last="Stroughter"] 6’1 Liberty 2021 (#15PHN 2021) - I’m really looking for a strong summer from Stoughter, to be followed up with a breakout senior season. He has played with some talented teammates in the past, including Gonzaga commit [player_tooltip player_id="797129" first="Julian" last="Strawther"]. Having the ball in his hands more this season, certainly provides him the opportunity to reach his ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id="927128" first="Coleman" last="Lemke"] 6’7 SF Faith Lutheran 2021 (#33PHN 2021) - You can see it in Lemke. At 6’7 he has guard like skills. He underwent a 4 inch growth spurt last season, so it may take a little time for him to adjust his game to his new found height. This could just be the year he does.

[player_tooltip player_id="987239" first="Christian" last="Bento"] 6’11 C Bishop Gorman (#60) - Another size and length player here. Bento arrived early last season to BG a lanky 7 footer. A year of hard core strength training, could certainly go a long way to helping him reach his ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id="800966" first="Andrick" last="Santillan"] 6’4 SG Cheyenne 2022 (#7PHN 2022) - Santallian makes this list for a variety of reasons. A highly ranked young player, he often times was pigeonholed into a specific role at Cheyenne. The opportunity to play with the ball in his hands this summer may provide him a chance to showcase his entire skill set. This will be good preperation for a similar role in his high school season.
