Commitments from the 2020 class had slowed down for a minute in Louisiana even with the country reopening. However, the past seven to ten days have seen an uptick in players signing with various schools in the Boot and beyond. We will take a look at who made their decisions and where they are headed.

NCAA Commitments & Signings

All three divisions of the NCAA saw players from Louisiana sign or commit recently. The biggest one was [player_tooltip player_id="848194" first="Collin" last="Holloway"] (6’6"/Port Allen) committing to the Hoyas of Georgetown. It is the second Louisiana commitment that Georgetown has had in three seasons with Josh Leblanc (Madison Prep) being the other. Division II Lenoir-Rhyne in North Carolina garnered a commitment from two-time state champion [player_tooltip player_id="687691" first="Salle" last="Wilson"] (6’5"/Dunham). The Centenary Gents of Division III had the most commitments from Louisiana with three quality players. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id="848233" first="Coby" last="Harris"] (5’9") from David Thibodaux, wing Javian Willis (6’3") of Catholic-New Iberia, and forward [player_tooltip player_id="848225" first="Braeden" last="Board"] (6’6") of Crowley all signed on to play for Coach Dorsey in Shreveport.

NAIA & JUCO Commitments and Signings

NAIA Division I continued to be a good landing spot for Louisiana recruits. [player_tooltip player_id="530926" first="Glenn" last="Rhone"] (6’7") of Division IV state champion Crescent City signed with Governors University in Illinois while Zachary guard [player_tooltip player_id="975292" first="Chaun" last="Moore"] made his commitment to the Crusaders of William Carey. The junior college ranks also saw two commitments and one signing from Louisiana. [player_tooltip player_id="927996" first="Michael" last="Pryor"] (6’5"/Woodlawn-Shreveport) signed with Southern University of Shreveport (Louisiana) after decommitting from Eastfield CC. Eastfield bounced back with Parkway forward [player_tooltip player_id="927994" first="Javoris" last="White"] (6’4") committing to the program. Closing out the JUCO signings was Rayne guard Leon Smith, Jr. The 6’2" guard will travel to Jamestown, New York and play for Jamestown CC.

There will be more signings to come as campuses are opening up for tryouts and visits. Schools such as Dallas Baptist University, Southern of Shreveport, and Ranger College have held tryouts and will hold others to sign players. Look for additional signings and commitments as we move from June to July in the coming weeks.
