For the second piece in my "Quarantine Film Review", I will be taking a look at St. Andrew’s 53-45 victory against McNamara from January 13th 2020. Below are three prospects who stood out.

[player_tooltip player_id="531243" first="Benny" last="Williams"] Shows Why He Is Elite

This season we saw Benny take a major step in toughness and passion for the game and this game against McNamara was a great example of that. Going up against nationally ranked center, [player_tooltip player_id="777061" first="Favour" last="Aire"], of Bishop McNamara, Williams held his own down low in the post. When Williams was guarded heavily or doubled teamed, Williams did a good job of passing to an open man. He showed some good distance with his jump shot and hit a very nice step back fade from the corner on Aire. During transition, he ran the floor well which allows him to finish above the rim nicely. Defensively, he continued to alter shots on Aire all night long. Williams has long arms, and guarded with his hands straight up on Aire without fouling. As always, he rebounded well on both ends and overall showed why he is the top prospect from Maryland/DC in the 2021 class.

Ed Johnson Shows Out

McNamara struggled to score in this game against the tough defense of St. Andrew’s but one guy who did not struggle to score for them is, 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="902044" first="Ed" last="Johnson III"]. Always known as a shooter, Johnson did what he does best to keep it close for McNamara. He has very deep range on his shot that extends beyond the three-point line. He can also attack the basket and finish nicely and finish well in transition. Throughout the game Johnson brought a lot of toughness as it was one of the best I have ever seen him play.

[player_tooltip player_id="836476" first="TJ" last="Gadsden"] Shows Improvement

Just recently TJ made his verbal commitment to Dave Paulsen and George Mason and TJ’s performance against McNamara is just one example of how well TJ should be for the Patriots. Gadsden has tremendous length standing at 6’6 with long arms that allows him to be a pest on defense and deflect balls that can lead to steals. He finishes nicely in transition and has the capabilities of finishing on top of you if you don’t look out. He had a beautiful fake one way and then hook shot on 6’10 [player_tooltip player_id="777061" first="Favour" last="Aire"] right beneath the rim and showed good shot making capabilities. Gadsden played his best basketball this past year and should be a wonderful fit for the George Mason program.
