Until then, let’s take a look at some of the best players in the 2021 class.
Here are the players ranked 11-20 in the 2021 class:
11.Noah Swenson
Swenson is one of the elite bigs in the state and has been a productive interior presence for Oak Grove each of the last two years. He’s a relentless rebounder on both ends of the floor, plays with great energy and has a good deal of skill both in the low and high post. He’s athletic enough to guard in space and has the strength and awareness to control the paint.
12.Wyatt Enno
Enno missed his junior year with an injury but has the ability to be one of the elite players in the WDA. The 6-foot-3 swingman averaged nearly 15 points and six rebounds as a sophomore for Turtle Mountain. He’s got a lot of mismatch potential as he’s got the size to abuse smaller defenders in the paint, but also has the quickness and skill to give bigger guys fits on the wing.
13.Brooks Carroll
Carroll is a big riser on this list, going from unranked to top-15 after a terrific 16U summer and junior year at Jamestown. He might be the best pure shooter in the state and showed he can score at a high rate even with heightened responsibility. He’s got good size and length to rebound and he’s a competitive defender on the wing.
14.Caleb Duffield
Duffield has been one of the best scorers at the Class B level each of the last two years. He’s not real big, but he’s dynamic as a shot-creator, and can get hot from deep in a hurry. He’s improved as a facilitator and defender and will have a chance to put up monster numbers as a senior for Bowman County.
15.Carter Birrenkott
Birrenkott looks the part of a college forward and should be one of the best frontcourt players in the EDC next season. Playing in a bogged down paint, the 6-foot-5 big averaged better than 11 points and six rebounds. He’s got very good strength and explosiveness with the skill to create his own shot in the mid and high post areas.
16.Bronson Walter
At 6-foot-10 and 300 pounds, Walter is one of the toughest matchups in the state. His size is a weapon that he uses to his advantage, as he’s excellent at establishing low post position and burying defenders inside. He’s got a soft touch, excellent footwork and is experienced handling double and triple teams. And while he’s not ever going to be the most nimble perimeter defender, he protects the rim at a high level and does a good job defending without fouling.
17.Colton Konschak
Konschak is an intriguing talent because of his combination of length, skill and smarts. At 6-foot-5, he uses his size to get to the paint and score against smaller guys frequently. He’s an adept playmaker and can control the game like few guys are capable in class B. He’s going to be in position to put up huge numbers as a senior with Hatton/Northwood.
18.Justice Coleman
This ranking could look silly (good or bad) in six months depending on how Coleman returns from injury. From a talent perspective, Coleman is one of the best in the state, as there are so few guys with the combination of size, athleticism and skill that he possesses. He can shoot it, he rebounds, he passes well and he can defend. Now he just needs to do it consistently.
19.Nick Kupfer
Kupfer was a stud for Bismarck Legacy as a sophomore, leading the Sabers the state tournament. He missed most of his junior year, but showed flashes of impactful play upon his return to the lineup in February. He’s a big, athletic guard who can get to the rim and score in traffic. He draws fouls at a high rate and can guard up or down an opposing lineup.
20.JaeShaun Shaw
Shaw is one of the best two-way guards in Class B and while he isn’t the biggest, he’s got good length, excellent quickness and toughness. He’s can fill it up from deep and has the quickness and burst to get to the paint with relative ease. And on the defensive end, he’s excellent in the passing lanes, puts a ton of pressure on opposing ballhandlers and does a great job limiting penetration and contesting shots.
