Who are the hardest workers currently attending school in Montgomery County? The purpose of this article is to highlight some of the very best, regardless of class. Below you will find, listed in alphabetical order by last name, 10 of the best hustlers from MoCo. This is part of a series that will aim to highlight players based on various superlatives.

Note: these superlative lists will not be mutually exclusive. If someone can handle the ball and do something else (i.e. shoot) at a high level, they will be included in both lists.

Matt Akers | Georgetown Prep ’21

The biggest selling point right now with Akers has to be his motor. He's an extremely active big man who is a flat out workhorse.

[player_tooltip player_id="902061" first="Jalen" last="Curtis"] | Good Counsel ’21

Curtis is a valuable and underrated player on Good Counsel's talented roster. He's very versatile defensively and plays with tremendous effort.

[player_tooltip player_id="902095" first="Amir" last="Gray"] | Quince Orchard ’21

A scrappy glue guy with high-quality intangibles, Gray is a reliable two-way contributor in any lineup.

[player_tooltip player_id="954251" first="Max" last="Gregory"] | McLean School ’21

McLean ran a tight 5-to-6 man rotation, and Gregory was a key part of it. He's a high energy wing who does his due diligence defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id="775333" first="Cole" last="Hanin"] | Bullis ’21

If Hanin earned a penny for every time he's hit the floor for a loose ball throughout his high school career, he'd probably have over five bucks by now. His passion for the game is evident each time he takes the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="902007" first="Jao" last="Ituka"] | Gaithersburg ’21

How do you average over 10 rebounds per game from the guard position? Work hard. That's exactly what Ituka does, every single game, without taking any plays off.

[player_tooltip player_id="902037" first="Kordell" last="Lewis"] | Richard Montgomery ’21

A tone-setter on both ends, Lewis is known for his strong work ethic and competitive demeanor. He's been an integral part of RM's recent success and will continue to be moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="954248" first="Ike" last="Onu-Chiedo"] | Churchill ’21

Onu-Chiedo's hustle is evident on both ends of the court. He's a purposeful rim-runner and a relentless rim-protector who plays with contagious energy at all times.

[player_tooltip player_id="902011" first="Ryan" last="Prather Jr."] | Clarksburg ’21

Playing hard comes naturally to Prather, and it translates on the stat sheet. He's quickly established a reputation as one of the best rebounding guards, not just in the county, but the entire state.

[player_tooltip player_id="904649" first="AJ" last="Thomas"] | Georgetown Prep ’22

One of the most underrated aspects of Thomas' overall game has to be his work rate. He's never afraid to pursue a 50/50 ball and put his body on the line for the team.

[player_tooltip player_id="902016" first="Mohamed" last="Toure"] | Sandy Spring ’21

Toure's high motor is evident when you watch him play in person, but even more so on film. He covers a ton of ground quickly and is always searching for ways to make a play.
