We continue on with our key returning players series by checking in on the NJAC. Here are the key returners for the 2020-2021 season.

[player_tooltip player_id="900309" first="Christian" last="Cevis"] (2021) | West Morris

West Morris finished 26-3 in 2019-2020 and they did it under the guidance of Cevis. He led New Jersey in assists with 254 on the season. He is a gifted ball handler and passer. Cevis knows how to set his teammates up but he can also score for himself when need be. West Morris is a better team with the ball in the hands of Cevis.

[player_tooltip player_id="900333" first="Rafael" last="Castro"] (2021) | Dover

Castro led the state in rebounding during the 2019-2020 season. He grabbed 440 rebounds and averaged 16.3 per game. This is an insane number but that is how talented Castro is. He is an incredible athlete and paired with his size, Castro is hard to stop.

[player_tooltip player_id="901988" first="Andrew" last="Stack"] (2022) | Madison

Stack emerged as one of the top shooters in the state as a sophomore. He knocked down 73 three’s which was the most in the conference. He has the ability to shoot over larger defenders using his quick release. Stack will continue to grow his game and show that he is a complete player.

Shawn Morgan (2021) | Hackettstown

Hackettstown was a complete team last season and that is why they were able to win 25 games. Jalen Baptiste, Tyler Gorczyca, and Tyler Kirkpatrick will be moving on. This leaves Morgan as the top returning scorer. He had a dynamic ability to score from anywhere on the floor. Morgan knocked down 55 three’s and was also elite when riving to the basket.

Justin Lawler (2021) | Randolph

Lawler is one of few true centers left around the conference. He did not have much of a scoring role as a junior but that will be extended as a senior. He dominated the glass with 10.1 rebounds per game. Lawler could get the better of his opponents when shots were in the air on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="900375" first="Riley" last="Albregts"] (2021) | Mountain Lakes

A key returner can be someone who needs to step up when their team is suffering a loss. Mountain Lakes is losing their top three scorers in [player_tooltip player_id="896673" first="Spencer" last="Myler"], David McFadden, and Charlie Plonski. This leaves Albregts as the team’s main option. He showed an ability to put the ball in the basket and will take the next step as a senior.
