For the second straight weekend, AAU basketball was played in Dallas. After a great first weekend with the Dallas Showtyme Classic, it was Great American Shootout’s turn to host a tournament at the Duncanville Fieldhouse. This tournament featured countless talented teams and I had the opportunity to take in the action on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

[player_tooltip player_id="1006614" first="Xavier" last="Savage"] - Texas Legion Elite - G

Savage is the definition of a bucket. He scored at all three levels in every game he played in and was seemingly unstoppable. Savage is a consistent shooter, a good slasher, and a good defender. His game is smooth and is a prospect to keep your eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id="887096" first="Grant" last="Shaw"] - Dallas Showtyme - G

Shaw is one of the best defensive guards in the area but he also showed that he is a capable scorer. Although he is a bit of a streaky shooter, Shaw caught fire in Dallas Showtyme’s game against 3D Empire. Shaw knocked down three three-pointers and helped elevate Dallas Showtyme to a 51-48 win. He is everything that you want in a point guard and plays hard.

[player_tooltip player_id="887087" first="Elijah" last="Hughey"] - Lone Star Elite - G

Hughey was one of the best scorers in the tournament that can score in a variety of ways. He has a knack for scoring and had stretches where he carried the offensive load for his team. Hughey has the ability to hit difficult shots and had multiple highlight-reel plays over the course of the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="959056" first="Cameron" last="Taylor"] - Texas Legion Elite - F

For the second straight weekend, [player_tooltip player_id="959056" first="Cameron" last="Taylor"] played great. He is a 6’7" forward with a great handle that can score in a variety of ways. Taylor is also a great defender that can be a rim protector when needed. He is one of the best passing forwards in DFW and has a big summer ahead of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="779882" first="Rytis" last="Petraitis"] - Texas Impact. 4:13 - G/F

Petraitis was one of the best defenders in the tournament and was a big reason that Texas Impact 4:13 was able to win the tournament. He does all of the little things for his team and plays his role well. Petraitis is also a good shooter from behind-the-arc and made some big shots for his team.
