The City Rankings series continues with a look at the top guards in the 2022 class. Here’s a look at the Top 10 guards in the Charlotte area.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id="787609" first="Jaden" last="Bradley"] | 6’3 PG | Cannon School

Bradley is one of the top prospects in the state and in the nation in the 2022 class and for good reason after winning the NCISAA 4A State crown, Gatorade State Player of the Year and MaxPreps North Carolina Player of the Year in 2019-20 in just his sophomore season. He’ll be a top player in the Charlotte area to keep an eye on after putting 23 ppg, 7 rpg, 7 apg and 2.5 spg in their run to the state title.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="577854" first="Jalen" last="Hood-Schifino"] | 6’5 G | Combine Academy

Hood-Schifino is a Pittsburgh commit that’s shown flashes of his abilities as a combo guard at Combine Academy. He’s a big guard that plays a bully-style when driving to the rim, absorbing contact for buckets in the paint. He’ll be fun to watch develop across the next few seasons on all three levels in the Charlotte area.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id="725186" first="Evan" last="Smith"] | 6’3 G | Ardrey Kell

Smith is an emerging floor general that had quite the breakout season in 2019-20. He produced 11.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.4 apg and 1.6 spg during his sophomore campaign at Ardrey Kell, posting a season-high 20 points against Tampa Catholic. He’ll be a key piece in their rotation over the next few seasons that coaches will want to keep an eye on.

#4 [player_tooltip player_id="848094" first="Marcus" last="Magness"] | 6’2 PG | West Charlotte

Magness is an underrated floor general at West Charlotte, dishing out a number of assists and showing off his ability to score the ball. His season-high came early against Mallard Creek when he posted 28 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. He’ll be a name to get to know in the Charlotte area in 2020-21.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id="848075" first="Quava" last="Propst"] | 6’0 G | Cox Mill

Propst was quite the backcourt threat for Cox Mill as they went 25-4 on the year and 9-1 in the South Piedmont Conference in 2019-20. He led the team in scoring (15.9 ppg) and assists (4.3 apg) while shooting 57 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range. He’s a playmaking guard with tons of ability in the 2022 class and one to watch in the Charlotte area.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id="848074" first="Chase" last="Lowe"] | 6’4 G | Weddington

Lowe played a key role in Weddington’s success during his sophomore season, averaging 16.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 4.5 apg, 2.4 spg and 1.0 bpg in the backcourt. He’s a guard that plays at a high level every time he’s on the floor. He does well getting his points with ease on the break and within flow of the offense. He’s got nice length as well that he uses to fly all over the court to make plays.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id="577861" first="Jordan" last="Marsh"] | 5’10 G | Hickory Ridge

Marsh put up 17.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.9 apg and 2.9 spg in the Hickory Ridge backcourt alongside [player_tooltip player_id="854886" first="Caleb" last="Foster"], another top name in the area. They’re due to become a top backcourt duo in the Charlotte area. He’s a scrappy defender that looks to find easy points off turnovers using his IQ and length on the defensive end which is a lethal combo to go with his ability to score the ball.

#8 [player_tooltip player_id="848088" first="Sam" last="Cogan"] | 6’4 SG | Lincoln Charter

Cogan is a shooting guard in Lincoln Charter’s backcourt with quite the skillset. He put up 18.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.8 apg and 1.5 spg in his sophomore season, including 25 points and 12 rebounds in their 2-point loss to Chatham Charter in the 1A State Tournament. He’ll be a name to get to know in the area with his ability shoot it and compete in the paint area with his athleticism.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id="947095" first="Isaiah" last="Tate"] | 5’11 G | Kings Mountain

Tate was a top performer in the Kings Mountain rotation in 2019-20, posting 15.9 ppg, 3.2 apg, 2.3 rpg and 1.1 spg as they looked to find their identity. He’s a prospect that can shoot it at volume and fill it up in a hurry. He had three 30+ point performances to show for himself when the season was all said and done. He’ll be a combo guard to keep watch for in Charlotte.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id="848092" first="Shaleak" last="Knotts"] | 6’3 G | Monroe

Knotts was a breakout performer in the Monroe rotation in 2019-20 during his sophomore season. He posted 15.6 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.5 spg in their backcourt and returns as one of their top leaders for 2020-21. Don’t be surprised if he climbs up this list by the end of his high school career, either. He’s got a ton of game to show for himself.
