The Prep Hoops SoCal staff has spent the last few weeks digging through notes to find all the standout freshmen performers from the 2019-20 season. While it’s still too early to put together a fair numerical ranking for these young prospects, we did come up with an 85-player watchlist of guys to keep an eye on over the next three years.

Below is the third installment of who could potentially crack those top five spots if we did decide to publish a true ranking, based on first-year performance and long-term potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="994950" first="Aaron" last="McBride"], Corona Centennial - McBride made his impact as an energy and hustle guy off the bench. The 6-foot-5 forward still has work to do on his offensive skill-set, but his high motor, defensive IQ and rebounding abilities are things that don’t normally come natural to young prospects.

[player_tooltip player_id="994919" first="Justin" last="Daniels"], Mater Dei - Daniels spent the majority of his freshman season on the lower levels of this SoCal powerhouse program, but flashed his talent plenty on the camp and club circuits. The 6-foot-3 point guard has good scoring feel in transition, uses his burst and strength to get to the basket and finish, and can knock down pull-up jumpers with consistency

[player_tooltip player_id="994964" first="Tyler" last="Rolison"], St. Bernard - Rolison has a high level feel at the point guard position. It’s very rare to see a freshman perform so confidently at the PG spot against the level of competition that Rolison did last season. The 6-footer is a steady ball handler, reliable decision maker and precise passer in transition and half-court settings.

[player_tooltip player_id="994924" first="Xavier" last="Edmonds"], Bishop Montgomery - Edmonds is of the traditional big man mold who, at 6-feet-7, can score on the block with his soft touch and sound low post footwork. Edmonds has shown pick-and-pop shooting touch to the 15-17 foot range and will continue to improve both offensively and defensively as his athleticism catches up with his frame.

[player_tooltip player_id="994920" first="Zack" last="Davidson"], Mater Dei - Davidson is another Monarchs’ freshman with a lot of promise. The younger brother of junior [player_tooltip player_id="747083" first="Nick" last="Davidson"]. the 6-foot-7 forward has the potential to be a versatile scoring threat for the next three seasons. Davidson has the ability to spread the floor to the three-point line and also possesses solid overall ball skills which could mold him into a playmaking forward.
