Basketball looks to be back and the Sanford Pentagon is hosting one of the first tournaments in the upper Midwest. Of course we can’t tell you for certain who will be there for each team but we’ve seen the roster so we can give you an idea.
17U Blue.
Teams – North Dakota Phenom, Southwest Minnesota Stars, ECI Prospects, and the Pentagon Schoolers Roby.
Potential Talent Competing
- Reece Burckhard of Aberdeen Central and Pentagon Schoolers is a D1 football and basketball prospect. Our reviews of his games this past spring show that Reece is a player that with a 17u season in front of college coaches, could be a massive stock raiser.
- Who will be the top PG at the event this weekend? There are two main candidates. One is Tyler Feldkamp of Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Tyler is another two sport offer level talent coming off an all state year.
- If you want to talk potential and athleticism, that is Jackson Hilton of Brandon Valley. This long, explosive wing has the potential to be a three level scoring threat. He is one of the two guys we think will be among the top athletes at the event.
- Who is the other player that could be the top athlete at the event? The other top point guard at the event? Bryce Lance Bryce Lance 6'3" | PG Marshall | 2021 State MN of Marshall High School and the Southwest Minnesota Stars. You know that Bryce could be a top football prospect but he is also one of the best 2-3 lead guard prospects in the state of Minnesota.
- One of the best scorers in Minnesota’s Class A basketball this year (and next year) is preseason first team All State Class A talent Ja’Sean Glover of Madelia. Glover scored 29 a game this winter and is already his school’s all time leading scorer.
- Keep an eye on Finn Diggins Finn Diggins 6'5" | PF Perham | 2021 State MN of Perham and Drew Sagedahl Drew Sagedahl 6'0" | SG Bold | 2021 State MN of BOLD. Drew is one of the most improved prospects in the state of Minnesota this year and he will score at the rim and at the arc for the Star this weekend (and many weekends). Then you have Finn Diggins Finn Diggins 6'5" | PF Perham | 2021 State MN , a player that led his high school team to an undefeated winter. Diggins averaged a double-double (21 and 11) this year and improved his perimeter skill level.
- The Phenom will be led by Wyatt Enno of Turtle Mountain and Justice Coleman of Bismarck Century if he is available
- Four of the five top 2021 prospects in the state of North Dakota will be with ECI this year. Six-foot-9 big Jacksen Moni of WF Sheyenne recently picked up an offer from Northern State and he’s a top frontcourt prospect to watch at this event.
- Another top big is 6-foot-8 Gavin Keller of Kindred who is coming off a 16 point, 8 rebound a game season.
- Also take note of ECI’s backcourt pair Gunner Swanson (Bismarck) and Carson Lamp (Jamestown). Swanson led Bismarck in scoring this season while Lamp scored 16 a game and led Jamestown in assists.
17U Orange. Pentagon Schoolers Kranning, South Dakota Ambush, Brandon Valley, and ECI Select will be playing.
16U Blue. Four team event including Pentagon Schoolers Daly, ECI, North Dakota Phenom, and Southwest Minnesota Stars.
16U Orange. Pentagon Schoolers Vincent, a pair of ECI squads, and Brandon Valley are playing at the 16u level in this division.
Others. There are girls events being played at the 17u level as well as the 14u, 13u, and 12u levels as well. As far as the boys go, the Pentagon is hosting events from the 11u level up to the 17u level.
Our team has been working closely with health officials to create a safe environment for teams to compete. We're excited to get back to basketball this weekend with our first tournament since the COVID-19 shutdown. More info here: https://t.co/V3tuYyN39r #SanfordSports pic.twitter.com/BpAaWfwwij
