We’re here to answer the question of, “Who are the 10 best prospects in the Western Kentucky area?”

What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of class and regardless of positions, what our top 10? For purposes of this article, western Kentucky is defined as regions 1 through 4.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id="773408" first="Zion" last="Harmon"], Marshall County (2021) - Currently the only top 100 ranked player in Kentucky in any class, Harmon is the best player in the western part of the state heading into his Senior season. Zion is one of the state’s top scorers but he’s a grossly underrated passer. Known more for lighting up the score board, his future is probably brightest as a facilitator who knocks down open shots when needed.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id="793756" first="Isaiah" last="Mason"], Bowling Green (2021) - One of the best kids in the rising Senior class, Mason is a versatile wing forward who is a good rebounder for his position and has attracted college attention over the past year plus. With the coaching change at Bowling Green leading to rumors that Mason may play some point guard as a Senior, the next season should be interesting to watch.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id="939117" first="Travis" last="Perry"], Lyon County (2024) - Almost certainly the top rising freshman in Kentucky and potentially a top 60-100 prospect nationally in the class, Perry is a big time scorer with a tremendous skill level. After scoring 27 points per game as an 8th grader, he's already over 1,000 points in his career and is on track to possibly be the highest scorer in state history by graduation.

#4 [player_tooltip player_id="801586" first="Turner" last="Buttry"], Bowling Green (2022) - One of the most skilled players in the state, Buttry maximizes his potential by possessing a tremendous work ethic which helps elevate his skill level and physicality. Turner is a point guard by trade but does more scoring damage off the ball as a lights out shooter.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id="922996" first="Anthony" last="Woodard"], Logan County (2021) - One of the hardest playing guys in the state, Woodard isn’t going to blow you away statistically but he’s a great athlete with a tremendous motor. Likely to end up playing football in college, don’t be surprised to see "Rooster" get some scholarship offers on the court also.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id="801600" first="Aden" last="Nyekan"], Barren County (2022) - A three sport star, Nyekan is a beast on the soccer field and court in addition to being a really good kicker on the football field (even though he’s built like a defensive end). On the court, Aden is a big, physical athlete who can get to the rim and tries to dunk on everyone that gets in the way.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id="926896" first="JiArius" last="Webb"], Owensboro Catholic (2022) - Mr. Potential in the 2022 class, Webb has started to fill out his frame and add to his skill set. He could be the next [player_tooltip player_id="706008" first="JJ" last="Traynor"] if he reaches his potential. If he doesn’t, he still figures to be a scholarship level player at the next level.

#8 Alijah Watts, Hopkinsville (2021) - Talent-wise, there may not be a better talent in the area than Alijah. He's had a tumultuous high school career but has a chance to be the best player in the 2nd region next season and show college coaches that he has D1 talent. If there were ever a time to buy low on a prospect, now would be it with Watts.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id="932780" first="Grant" last="Whitaker"], Murray (2023) - Coming on the scene this year as an 18 point per game scorer, Whitaker is going to be one of the best players in the first region next season and possibly the best player in the area his last two seasons. For right now, he’s a high potential bucket getter with a bright future.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id="926895" first="Cade" last="Stinnett"], Greenwood (2022) - Mr. Do It All for Greenwood, Cade led the team in scoring and was second in rebounding this past season. His college potential, like most kids, is limited to how much he’ll grow but he’s a really good high school player who has 2 years left to develop and impress. He’s the type that will maximize his talent and be the best player he can be.
