The Metro Classic Conference consistently puts out some of the state’s top prospects, and next season will be no different as the MCC returns loaded with talented players. Prep Hoops Wisconsin takes a look at those top prospects returning for another year in the loaded private school conference.

[player_tooltip player_id="804895" first="Tyrese" last="Hunter"] (6’1 2021 PG, Racine St. Catherine’s)- Returning as the top point guard in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="804895" first="Tyrese" last="Hunter"] is the type of talent that puts fans in the stands. His mixture of explosive finishes, quickness with the ball in his hands, passing vision, and 41% three point shooting allow him to takeover games in a variety of ways. As last year’s conference player of the year, he helped lead St. Cat’s to a 25-0 record, and has the talent to once again have them competing for a state title come March. Tyrese holds offers from Georgia, Louisville, Iowa State, Marquette, and Minnesota among many others.

[player_tooltip player_id="727972" first="Andrew" last="Alia"] (6’2 2022 SG, Kenosha St. Joseph)- One of the most productive players in the MCC the past two years returns for his junior season. Alia put up 19.8 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest while shooting over 50% from the field and 46% from three, and is a top-20 player in his class. Alia is a well rounded athlete who can attack the basket and glide in the air to finish at the rim, and also has a smooth pull-up jumper from mid-range that he elevates well on to shoot over a defender. Expect another big year out of [player_tooltip player_id="727972" first="Andrew" last="Alia"] this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id="764101" first="Quentin" last="Bolton"] (6’6 2021 SF, Shoreland Lutheran)- A powerful wing prospect who can bang in the post and has a smooth pull-up jumper, Quentin is among the top small forward prospects in the 2021 class. A walking double-double, Bolton averaged 16.2 points and 10.6 rebounds while facing constant attention from opposing defenses. His frame and skill level on the offensive end will have scholarship schools watching closely. VMI, Eastern Washington, and Maine have been showing interest.

[player_tooltip player_id="879981" first="Kamari" last="McGee"] (6’ 2021 PG, Racine St. Catherine’s)- One of the most efficient players in the state, Kamari rarely makes a mistake with the ball in his hands. Boasting nearly a 6:1 assist to turnover ratio, Kamari is an extremely intelligent decision maker with the vision to pick out slashing teammates in the half court and in transition. He has a strong frame and elite quickness that make him a tough on-ball defender, and though he doesn’t need to put up big scoring numbers, he’s more than capable of hitting shots at all three levels. Kamari has been hearing from Army, Columbia, NDSU, SDSU, and Towson as of late.

[player_tooltip player_id="879983" first="Antuan" last="Nesbitt"] (6’4 2021 W, Prairie)- An extremely versatile player with a long frame, three-level scoring, explosive athleticism, and passing vision, Antuan was one of the most productive players in the conference the past two seasons. As a junior he averaged 19 points, 7.8 rebounds, and led the MCC with 6.1 assists per game. Antuan excels at creating a shot with limited dribbles, and combines elevation with a high release on his jumper making it difficult to contest. Defensively his length and athleticism allow him to effectively guard multiple spots. Nesbitt has heard from NDSU and Princeton recently.

[player_tooltip player_id="981038" first="Demerius" last="Shakur"] (6’2 2023 G, Martin Luther)- One of the top 2023 guards in the state, Demerius had a solid freshman year with some big performances towards the end of the season, a trend that should continue into his sophomore year. Demerius is a shifty ball handler with quickness who plays with great change of pace to get to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="981021" first="Ashe" last="Oglesby"] (6’5 2023 F, Prairie)- [player_tooltip player_id="981021" first="Ashe" last="Oglesby"] progressively improved over the course of his freshman year, emerging into an efficient inside-out scoring threat. Ashe averaged 10.9 ppg shooting 57% from the field and 42% from three, all while pulling in nearly 6 boards a contest. Ashe has a physically strong frame that allows him to compete in the post as a young player, and that strength lets him finish through contact with no problem. Ashe is mobile in transition and has a solid handle that allows him to weave through defenders and get to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="801144" first="Micah" last="Causey"] (5’8 2022 PG, St. Thomas More)- One of the best ball handlers in the state, defenders found Micah nearly impossible to stay in front of this past season. His quickness and change of direction allow him to pick out and spot on the floor and get there, and despite his size he’s a tough finisher in the paint. Micah averaged 18.1 points and 5.2 assists per game as a sophomore, and will look to be one of the most productive point guards in the Milwaukee area next winter.

[player_tooltip player_id="804919" first="Delone" last="Austin"] (6’1 2021 G, Dominican)- [player_tooltip player_id="804919" first="Delone" last="Austin"] put up 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game as a junior, numbers that should continue to rise as he enters his senior year. Austin has a great hesitation dribble that allows him to get defenders on their heels and beat them to space. He’s a capable outside shooter and crafty finisher around the rim, with no problem creating his own shot off the dribble.

Jameer Barker (6’2 2021 W, Racine St. Catherine’s)- The lefty wing had a breakout junior season for the state’s top Division 3 team last winter, boosting his scoring average from 5 ppg as a sophomore to 14.3 ppg as a junior. Jameer is a tough wing-guard who loves to attack the basket and finish through contact. He has a knack for getting defenders in the air around the rim, then powering up to draw contact. From outside he’s a 41% three point shooter who moves well off the ball and is a catch-and-shoot threat.
