The class of 2022 in Nor Cal has a lot of promising guards. Here is another look at some of the top prospects.

6’0 [player_tooltip player_id="766857" first="Ameere" last="Britton"] – Elk Grove HS, Elk Grove

Britton is a versatile two guard who contributes in many ways. He was a stat sheet stuffer this past season, averaging 14 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals on a team that won 21 games. He’s fairly athletic and has some strength and passes the look test. He is a capable ball handler who finishes nicely in transition. Britton can pull up half court and he knows how to play without it. He is an ok shooter with range and he gets to the basket on the drive pretty consistently. He is a division I prospect with mid major potential.

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="766845" first="Jeremiah" last="Dargan"] - De La Salle HS, Concord

Dargan is an athletic guard/wing who is still growing/developing physically. He handles fairly well and his instinct is to put it down and go to the basket or pull up mid range (has a nice floater) Dargan probably needs to prove himself more as a perimeter shooter as well develop physical strength to prepare for the next level. He projects to be a mid minus prospect.

6’3 [player_tooltip player_id="766863" first="Devin" last="Day"] - Modesto Christian HS, Modesto

Day was injured and missed the 2019- 2020 season unfortunately. When healthy he is an elite level shooter with long range who is very effective in catch and shoot mode. He handles and passes it well enough to be a secondary one man if needed. He sees the floor well and can make plays in transition. Day moves well without the ball and can gets a lot of shots out of the system. He could use some work creating and learning to score consistently off the dribble. He has proven to be a capable rebounder as well. Day looks to be a mid major prospect if he stays healthy.

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="947394" first="Austin" last="Johnson"] - Salesian College Prep, Richmond

Johnson is an athletic and very talented two guard who shows a lot of promise. He handles and passes it fairly well and does a solid job scoring in transition. He shows the ability to score from all three levels in the half court (perimeter shooting, mid-range pull up, finishing at the rim). Johnson is also versatile enough to play one or three. He is a mid major plus prospect.

6’3 [player_tooltip player_id="947389" first="Isaiah" last="Kerr"] - St. Francis HS, Mountain View

Kerr is a long and athletic one man who plays with a lot confidence. He is a savvy ball handler who makes good decisions on the break. He is a consistent driver/penetrator who gets by defenders in the half court. Kerr knows how to run a team and can create for himself and his teammates. He is also an effective rebounder from the guard position. He is a low plus/mid minus prospect.

5’10 [player_tooltip player_id="947409" first="Trey" last="Knight"] - Moreau Catholic HS, Hayward

Knight is a play-making one man who can distribute the ball or be a scorer as the team needs. He understands how to play and he has a nice all-around skill set. He’s a solid ball handler and passer who makes pretty good decisions. Knight can score from all three levels and wants to take the big shot when the money is on the line. He runs a team and is a bonafide leader. He is a sure-fire division I prospect and time will tell what level he ends up at.
