The 2020 class is out the door but their high school teams are left to try and replace the production of players who have had a massive impact for the last several seasons. Here’s a look at how teams will look to replace the top players in the departing Senior class.

Sixth Region:

Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="915130" first="Trey" last="Minter"], Butler

Next Up: My initial response would have been Turrell Cleaves Jr but he transferred to J-Town. The 2022 class at Butler is a good one and the it’s likely to be a committee of players who replace the production of Minter. Juniors like [player_tooltip player_id="926926" first="Chance" last="Garner"], [player_tooltip player_id="926930" first="Chavez" last="Woods"] and [player_tooltip player_id="926909" first="Julion" last="Beard"] will all be big role players but leading returning scorer Taevon Dozier is likely to be the man for the Bears next season.

Seventh Region:

Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="783045" first="Tyren" last="Moore"], Male

Next Up: [player_tooltip player_id="923001" first="Cam" last="Pope"] is likely to be the leading scorer in all of Louisville next season. Think of Pope as a bigger, more athletic Tyren (and that’s no knock on Tyren). Cam made the most of limited opportunities for the Bulldogs this season but should be the go-to scorer for Male next season and help Coach Haworth’s squad avoid a drop-off in production along side fellow Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="923049" first="Trey" last="Stone"] and [player_tooltip player_id="922999" first="Dez" last="Lindsay"].

Eighth Region:

Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="706003" first="Dayvion" last="McKnight"], Collins

Next Up: Sophomore Quintin Simmons has the confidence of Coach Gaither and will get to play with the ball in his hands a lot. Aaron Thompson and [player_tooltip player_id="923059" first="Caleb" last="Hawley"] will get a lot more shots than they did this season and hopefully Aaron gets a chance to stretch his game out a little after being an undersized post this season. Darrian Crittendon is the defensive stopper for the Titans and should get a lot more shots if he can stay on the court and stop fouling.

Ninth Region:

Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="601450" first="Grant" last="Disken"], Covington Catholic

Next Up: Senior Donovan Stocks will get a chance to show he can be more than a catch and shoot player. [player_tooltip player_id="932777" first="Chandler" last="Starks"] will get a lot more post touches as a Sophomore and Colin McHale will get a chance to show what he can do with the ball in his hands a lot more. The biggest question mark will be the point guard spot. It will be interesting to see who gets to run the point for the Colonels.

Tenth Region:

Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id="706056" first="Amirion" last="Joyce"], Bourbon County

Next Up: Bourbon graduated 10 Seniors and right now it’s unclear who will get the first chance to be the man for Coach Campbell’s team next season. Senior Jack Huckabay has more experience than anyone else on the roster after playing in every game last season but behind him is a giant question mark right now and you never know who may transfer in before school starts.
