The updated Prep Hoops Nevada player rankings come out this month. Due to obvious circumstances, it’s been difficult to see as many players as we wanted live. The good news is, the recent shutdown has provided ample opportunity for me to discover talented players during hours of dedicated film study, because of this I expect these to be the most detailed and accurate rankings to date. In this article, PH takes a look at some class of 2021 players set to rise.

[player_tooltip player_id="927164" first="Desmond" last="Green"] 6’9 PF Silverado (#72) - Green was mis-ranked. Reality is with his size and athleticism, he’s going to draw interest from someone. He was a difficult player to quantify because his main skills don’t always show up in the box score all the time. Good athlete that can protect the rim and run the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="927147" first="Lowell" last="Chan"] 6’4 SF Sierra Vista (#55) - Chan’s moving up. He checks the production box, but he also has a quality offensive skill set. Chan can take it to the hole, but he also has no problem stepping out and knocking down 3’s. Perhaps what I admire most about him is his confidence, here is a guy that went 0-14 from 3 in a game and still finished with 16-6 and 7.

[player_tooltip player_id="927138" first="Lucas" last="Walker"] 5’11 PG Moapa Valley (#44) (featured image) - Say what you want, but production matters. Walker’s consistent production alone warrants a shot up the rankings. It wasn’t just the fact that he averaged over 20 ppg, but he also was one of the top assist men in the state. He had a tremendous stretch during the middle of the season where he scored at least 15 points in 15 out of 16 games including a 19 and 11 assist game and a 20 and 10 assist game.

[player_tooltip player_id="927142" first="Kyree" last="Hayes"] 6’2 SG Cheyenne (#50) - I’m not sure how much Hayes will move up, but he’s definitely going to rise. I like what he did for the Desert Shields last year. He was a solid number 2 option to [player_tooltip player_id="799296" first="Glenn" last="Taylor"] and provided great leadership and defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="927133" first="Joseph" last="Summers"] 5’11 PG Carson (#37) - Can’t sleep on Summers, he’s a talented player, and I really hope people get the opportunity to see him sometime this Summer. He ripped up the Sierra League, averaging 18 per game including a 37 point outburst vs Colfax.

[player_tooltip player_id="858164" first="Fernando" last="Carmona"] 6’5 PF Las Vegas (#31) - My apologies to Carmona for the low rankings. No excuses, but the combination of him being a football player, and not getting a chance to see him in the fall when I meet the programs probably stunted my perception of his game. What he is, is a high motor big that competes for rebounds, has good hands and a nice touch from 15 feet. The rebounding machine had 10 games last year with double-digit rebounds.
